I suggest you give the BHF helpline a call and speak to one of the Cardiac nurses.

The BHF has this information about angina on their website.

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

Perhaps also discuss with your Pharmacist about whether it's okay to drink alcohol when taking the medication you have been prescribed.

Maybe also take into consideration the risk of catching Covid.

You need to ask someone with expertise. Your pharmacist, GP's surgery or the BHF nurses. It will depend on your condition, and which meds you are on. If in doubt, don't take the risk would be my advice.

Dear Radars

Posted on your last post……….

If you have doubts { why you posted } why take the risk, you can still have a great time without it !

Take care

My understanding is (reading the leaflets) as long as it is in moderation it is fine. In fact I have been enjoying a glass of Harvey's sherry while wrapping my Christmas presents this afternoon. That said we are all different so maybe try a small drink prior to Boxing day to see if there are any side effects.

Heather, you bad influence! I hadn't thought about having a glass of sherry, since one with friends pre lunch on Sunday, but I'm going to have a glass right now. 😅😂😂

I am but read this advice which is why I say in moderation.

'People now often take low-dose aspirin for its blood-thinning properties as this can reduce the risk of heart attacks and stroke. Drinking a small amount of alcohol while taking aspirin is usually safe'.

I'm on Warfarin, so rarely drink.

It has been years since I have had a sherry but was wrapping presents earlier and sherry seemed the appropriate drink!

Glass of sherry.

My wife and I both have angina but a pint of real beer and glass of Merlot does not seem to do us any harm with a pub meal! Think you will enjoy a little tipple on Boxing Day.

Everything in moderation for me 🎅.

I am on aspirin and enjoy alcohol every once in awhile, no problems at all. Medication like aspirin is prophylactic, you will be just fine in my opinion to go out and enjoy yourself . The caution would be if you drink too much too often.
