Hello and welcome to the forum!

I have to say this is a slightly strange post for a first one on a peer-to-peer heart disease forum. Maybe you could expand your bio at some stage.

When I was in rehab one of the targets was to get older people off catheters as they are often fitted for convenience and a potential source of infection. Going cold turkey unless advised by your GP might result in reduced urine flow or it even coming to a halt. This could result in you being fitted with a catheter in A&E. If this happens in the current climate you could have it for quite a while.

See your GP for advice. BTW why do you want to stop it? It must have been prescribed for a reason.

I've been on tamsulosin for 20 months and all I'd say is what a miracle drug it is, my visits to the bathroom in the night, it used to be as often as 5 times are now down to once and occasionaly twice a night. I do understand that is slightly lowers blood pressure, which is no bad thing!!
