Just a question does anyone ever check O2 levels when having a Breathless bout ??
It's just I was breathless and my O2 level was 100% it seems weird.
I have been doing a Peak Expiratory Rate Diary for the past 14 days one AM and then another PM Lowest Reading 420 L/Min and Highest 550 L/Min I need to put it back to the surgery tomorrow for my GP to check, it seems OK to me, but then again I don't know what is normal !!!

Breathlessness doesn’t necessarily have anything at all to do with - or any impact on - oxygen levels. You can have chronic, life limiting lung disease with significantly impaired lung function and still have perfect sats day to day. It all depends on the origin of the breathlessness, whether the underlying mechanism has any effect on gas transfer, and the body’s ability to compensate. It’s equally possible to not feel breathless at all but have low oxygen levels. As for peak flow, normal range varies by age, height, and sex, but there are nomograms available online to give you some indication of where you are in relation to the expected.
Thanks Charlie that was a very useful reply. I have looked at the chart and as you say height & sex play a large part in the rate. Thanks again very useful.
