Heat and Oxygen Levels

I know many of us are struggling with this heat, I know I am sitting here stripped to the waist and perspiring with the room at 29C! Its hotter outside.

I no longer religiously check my BP, HR and O2 levels like I used to but I decided to check yesterday afternoon when some sorting and tidying had ground to a halt. To my surprise my O2 was 94% and my HR 53 from my normal values of 99 - 100% and 56 - 60. The last time my O2 was that low was when I had the unmentionable virus whose after effects (but not the long one) I am still suffering from when my O2 was 93% and slightly lower at times and I was borderline hospitalisation.

The air definitely feels lacking in something. Has antibody else noticed a drop in their O2 levels?

94 is a bit low, did you try any deep breathing to see what you could raise it to?

They did come up with some of my old breathing exercises to around 97 - 98% but the air felt lacking. When I threw open the door to my Juliette balcony this morning I did a check and everything was normal. Down a bit this afternoon but again it is oppressive and the air heavy. Thank you for your concern.

Since last year, my oxygen levels took a dive so I am on supplementary home oxygen to keep the level up. However, the most I can manage is 93 but I am ok with that. During the heat, I have had trouble getting the level past 89 though so maybe there is something about oppressive heat and lower than normal levels.

Im struggling too. Generally 94% atm. I wondering if its because I have a fan on constantly circulating dry air 🤦🏽‍♀️

I felt like you so I checked mine a few times last week and surprised to find it was 98-99 because I felt breathless.

My theory is that hot air is less dense, so you get less oxygen per breath.

I have found it easier to breathe in cold air.

I don't have an oximeter, but I'm definitely getting less air at the moment. And since I'm in London, the air I am getting isn't as fresh as it might be :(

Air is known to expand at higher temperatures, so the number of oxygen molecules in a given volume of air is less. I don't know if this affects alveolar oxygen uptake, but I guess that it might.
