My husband is on clopidogrel and aspirin. He had an accident at work and grazed his calf and it is now badly bruised. He went to A&E and they xrayed it and said it was just badly bruised. This happened a week ago and then last night the top of the ankle is slightly swollen and the foot is bruised.
Should he go back to the hospital or ring 111 for advice?
Thank you

I’m on clopidogrel and aspirin after a stent 6 months ago and I’m always covered in bruises. A lot of heavy duty gardening etc. They go after a couple of weeks. I haven’t bothered with doctors etc. It’s just to be expected with the drugs I think.
We can only relate to our own experience. You must make your own judgement. However I’m on Clopidogrel and aspirin equivalent and always have bruises. Sometimes I’m mystified how I got them. The harder the bang the deeper the bruise and the longer it takes to come out.
I am on clopidogrel and aspirin and have 'suddenly' developed a magical ability to bruise. It's a matter of personal opinion about calling 111 or the Dr or even going to a&e .
When I first started to notice how easily that I bruise I was worried but over time I realised that it was just a side effect of the drugs, my wife say that a hard stare will raise a bruise on me nowadays.
If you are really worried seek advice try calling your cardiac nurse they normally have the right answer.
When l had a heart attack 9 years ago 2 stents l was put on the usual medication clipodogrel, aspirin etc the cardiologist emphasised that the clipodogrel was to stop after 12 months and sure enough it was l an still on Bisoprolol ,Losarten, aspirin , statins etc and get the usual bruising but as regards clipodogrel l wondered if anyone else had the same advice.
I'm always covered in bruises even though now just on aspirin. I've only to lightly bump the door and a bruise comes up. The neighbours are starting to talk LOL and I think I have shares in arnica. After the stents were put in, the nurse released the pressure bandage too early- only for a couple of seconds. My arm was jet black from wrist to elbow. It took weeks to go. When i had a second angiogram I didn't even have a pin prick mark where the needle went in. If the swelling increases I would certainly ring 111 or go to Urgent care
