I felt a little unwell and then noticed palpitations occurring. This gave me anxiety of course and lost a nights sleep. Dr. confirmed ectopic beats and seen them on my own monitor, Raised blood pressure now. Had this for 3 days. Getting these beats about 40 per hour. Guess that's about 24 hours. Dr saw me straight away but not concerned. Put me in for 24hr monitor and blood test. Still anxious not helping. Advise appreciated.

Ectopic beats out of the blue.
40 an hour although very unpleasant isn't a huge number, some of us can get 40+ a minute. They are usually benign and don't need any treatment but anxiety will make them worse. If however they are causing significant problems then medication can help.
Does this condition tend to raise blood pressure or is it anxiety for me? Thanks.
I have episodes of ectopic beats which are closely linked to my levels of anxiety. I’ve noticed my blood pressure go high during these episodes and put it down to the anxiety rather than anything else. When I first realised I was experiencing ectopic beats my mind got into a loop of worry and insomnia but found the posts on ‘York Cardiology’ reassuring.
Hi I was getting 30 a minute for weeks unfortunately this led to a fib. So be presistant with your Gp and ask for an ecg. They always say they are benign but Atrial ectopic can be the precursor to atrial flutter or a fib. Best of luck.
Ectopics started out of the blue for me too, and led to a fib, although in themselves they are supposed to be benign. I found them very debilitating but I was getting a LOT like Ethel103 above. Many people find breathing techniques help enormously so it’s definitely worth trying them. But also they can stop suddenly - when I first got them they lasted for two weeks and then disappeared for ten years!
I've had "palpitations" for years. It took months to track mine down and find out which part of the heart they were coming fro m. They always evaded ECGs a holter monitor and a stress test. It was only when the left he electrodes attached after a stress test that i had a bout of them that they could see. So at least yours have now been seen. I was told hat mine were completely harmless. However they do get far worse when I get anxious and my BP also rises. Try some relaxation exercises to see if that makes a difference. If you are still worried ask your GP for a proper explanation which should ease your mind.
I used to get them A LOT! 13,000 on a 24 hour monitor .. I have gotten them down to 3,500 in 24hours taking taurine and magnesium glycinate… a lot of people have had great success with these 2 supplements.. but I will note I have had lots of test ie: echocardiogram etc and I have a structurally normal heart! So check with your doctor first!
Other things going on at same time, my Dr gave me Clopidogrel (Pavid) 6 days before. trying to find out if they can start Ectopics but he says not. But I'm keeping off them until I resolve this. Today they have abated. but I also have a very feint chesty cough and wonder if that is associated. Even more I have a 3cm Hiatus hernia and I understand they can interfere with the vagus nerve. Now though in the UK if the NHS system does not see an emergency then go away and suffer it.
I also have a slight pain in the chest with sometimes a little cough but very feint.
Blood test tomorrow but don't know if that will show anything?
