Hello....I've noticed most people with Heart Failure have been prescribed Bisoprolol, I have been prescribed Nebivolol and was wondering what their experience of this beta blocker was...many thanks...

I am also on Nebivolol but I have no experience of any other beta blocker so I can’t really help. I take 5mg in the morning and 2.5 in the evening (amongst lots of other medication!). I don’t seem to have any side effects as such but they say beat blockers makes you more susceptible to feeling the cold.

I was on Bisoprolol and felt the cold very badly in my fingers

I was then switched to Nebivolol and although I still feel the cold it’s not as bad

Beta blockers are used to treat a range of conditions including BP, heart failure and arrhythmias. Side effects are usually minimal tending to be slight dizziness and/or nausea in the first week to ten days. Cold extremities vary from person to person. I am on Bisoprolol but have not noticed this.

Have you tried eliminating triggers for ectopics. A friend has reduced his to virtually zero by cutting out caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and spicy food.

I dislike thr term Heart Failure and think Heart Insufficiency would be a more accurate term.

Hi Michael JH

Thank you for your reply....yes have cut out all of the items mentioned...the only thing I have trouble cutting out is stress...lol...methinks that come with the term "Heart Failure " so agree with you...

I absolutely did not know these were triggers! I literally had three cups of coffee, an Indian and three pints of lager last night. Also a complimentary square of chocolate after my curry! 😂😂😂 (Although did not notice any ectopics last night)

Back to drinking solely water and eating broccoli and cabbage it is!

Needs must…no point living to 110 years old and never venturing outside the confines of your own home. It’s called “living” for a reason. 😂

I’m not advocating throwing caution to the wind and eating steaks and drinking vodka all day every day…but there’s certainly a balance to be found somewhere!
