Nebivolol side effects

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying some sunshine.

For the past 4 months I have been taking a low dose of Nebivolol which has reduced my blood pressure significantly. To the point where it has gone down to 100/47. I have increasingly been feeling weaker and weaker and sweating excessively. As well as blurred vision., I am hoping to speak with a doctor tomorrow but in the meantime has anyone else had any similar experiences. Thanks as ever, Judi

Hi HJ31,

You didn't mention quantity in mgs & frequency. By low dose you mean 2.5 mg OD ? Reason for taking Beeta Blockers.

If your BP drops below 100/60 on 2.5 mg nebivolol than perhaps you don't need BP medication if it's prescribed for High BP.

I took Nebivolol for 3 years after 2 stents. It does lower BP significantly however on BP dropping too low doctors weaned it off gradually plz discuss with your doctor

Thanks

Thanks ever so much for your reply. I really appreciate it.

I have been feeling increasingly weak and poorly. I was on 1.25mg so really quite a low dose. However, even this low dose resulted in my readings of 100/47. In summary I have now started taking half that dose, so 0.75 gms and my blood pressure has come up a bit. My blurred vision and weakness is a bit better. I am due to speak to a doctor in 10 days, so am monitoring my bp every day to see how it goes. Thanks again and happy weekend. Judi

Hi HJ31,

Only in case you are taking it for BP lowering medication, I suggest to taper / wean off in 1 weeks by switching to alternate days as you have already lowered the dosage gradually.

However if you are taking it for any other reason consult doctor before discontinuing.

The side effects you mentioned are very common with beta blockers but not at this small dose but off course every body reacts differently to medications.

The side effects may linger on for for a week / 10 days after leaving beta blockers.

Good luck.

Hi Judi...I take Nebivolol along with lots of other medication for LVSD and low ejection fraction. My BP is similar to yours on a daily basis, I do get dizzy sometimes. I've spoken with my heart failure nurse and was told ad long as you feel well the majority of the time they are only numbers. If you are really concerned speak to your Cardiac Team...Good luck and take care 😊

Thanks ever so much. I am due to speak to a doctor in 10 days and in the meantime I am taking a reduced dose, which has improved my blurred vision and the awful weakness. My bp has come up a bit, and I am going to monitor it every day. Take care and thank you again for your reply, Judi 🤗
