Hello :-)

We can all be on the same medications and all on different doses it can depend on our conditions what other meds we are taking and what our Consultants and Doctors think is the right dose for us as they have our medical history

Saying all that there would be no harm in asking your Doctor about the dose they may feel you can go down a bit now but you need to ask them what they think and you could ask as well why you seem to be on a higher dose than most I am sure they will put your mind at ease :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

I always recommend that patients check dosage, interactions, and allergies for themselves then raise the questions with the medics etc. Many times in hospital I have seen the pharmacist do this with the doctors. You know your file of case history. Doctors often get the dosage wrong.

The convenient thing in the British system is that it is usually easy to speak to a pharmacist, in private if you want.

Thank you for your response. This medication was prescribed 3years ago by my Consultant Cardiologist, the point I was making is there a time when I could be reduced as I am asymptomatic. I haven't seen a Dr or Consultant since I was diagnosed with Heart Failure 4 years ago.

It is certainly worth asking. Beta-blockers are often "titrated" which means adjusted up and down.

Yes I know what titrated means . I have completed 28years in the health service and aware of medical terminology. My question was a general one to see what others had experienced. Thank you for your reply..

I have been on 2.5mg for 18 months. Doctors have just taken me off it as my heart rate was only about 45.
