Hello everyone my name is David Hamilton and im from Vancouver bc. It’s good to be a part of this group . So my story is this: a few months back I began to experience some panick attacks that were mild at best and not very frequent . Being 40 I was concerned about this so I had many test done, echocardiogram, cat scan of my heart carried two holsters for 24 hours . Also cat scans of lungs to make sure the shortness of breath wasn’t related to the heart issues and it was not. Further tests included test of my abdomen checking! Liver, kidneys, bladder bowels spleen and everythin else . Also they have checked my blood work and troponon levels about 40 times and done about 16 ekgs which all showed no concerns or complication. Everything is normal and that’s great but I don’t feel normal. They are now saying I have a panick disorder. I don’t feel that is right either ! What do you guys think? Do you think that these tests are accurate ?

Painick attacks involve the heart so it is a heart issue

Your post says no signs of heart problems?

But if you know better than the professionals you have seen then carry on

Good luck

What exactly doesn’t feel right ? What concerns were you having that lead to all these tests?

Hi David and welcome to the forum.

If you have a heart arrhythmia, they can come and go. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, which is abbreviated as PAF comes and goes and it can sometimes be quite tricky to catch an attack when it's happening. EKG's can be normal, but that doesn't always mean that all is well if your heart has righted it's beat when you're seen by medics. Yes, they are often passed off as stress, but then stress can cause palpitations too.

How do your episodes make you feel and how long do they last for? Have you had many?

Hi David welcome to forum firstly I'm glad that all your tests are normal try and focus on something other than your heart if you keep stressing yourself u will have a heart problem panic attacks can make u have palpitations the more u worry the worse the panic attack think about wh sets these attacks off try breathing exercises when happen also try joining a forum where many other have been in similar situations as you wish u the best

Ive been in hospital in heart wards three times and twice I've met fellow patients who were diagnosed with panic/anxiety attacks rather then heart problems....one of these patients although I'd never met him only lived a few hundred yards away from me.Subsequently Ive bumped into him a few times and I'm pleased to say that after learning some basic relaxation skills he has never suffered another attack.

It's incredible what the mind can do.

Hi David, if you don’t feel right go back to your doc because you know your body. You have to ask yourself why are you getting these panic attacks if they are you will know within yourself how you are feeling. Don’t forget to come back and let me know how you are getting. Best wishes.

Hi my uncle was getting chest pain and felt something was not right and he took himself to A&E, they did all the usual tests and nothing showed up and he felt a bit of a scam, then they did a stress test on him and it fortunately showed up there was a problem and he needed a stent. You know your body keep pestering if your heart does not feel right. My husband also was turning up at A&E with problems with his chest and everything was all non conclusive until he had a bad heart attack and had to have two stents. He was only 44 years old.
