I have just been discharged for the second time having been prepped for now FIVE times for surgery to replace my aortic value. No ICU beds at a leading British heart centre. It is devastating, not for me alone, but for all those terrified people. I was told by my consultant that he was having to discharge people with chest pains. It gives me such hope and delight to read the stories of people making it through and going home....please lobby whoever you can to highlight the bloody mess affecting cardiac services along with all the other poorly people in our system. I am gutted and feel so let down. Not by the doctors and nurses, they are equally upset. The system is a joke.

It’s very distressing for you. 5 times, that’s awful! I did hear that more Initiatives are just being funded to try and get the dreadful waiting lists under control (5.5million UK people waiting, at the last count)But a serious procedure like yours, that needs an ICU bed, ready and waiting, is not as easy as some of the smaller procedures to just reschedule in a spare theatre session.I do lobby my MP, as I think they need to know what awful distress such experiences are causing their constituents. They also know how much the public love the NHS which is a vote winner or loser!

Sorry to hear about your position. It must be hard for you. My husband is having problems with chest pains etc. at the moment and is down to see a cardiologist as urgent so we thought, only to find he has to wait 16 months as they are literally not seeing anyone on the list at the moment. We are having to pay private for a consultation. I don't know what we would do in your position. Hope that things improve for you soon. I know my husband's life is on hold at the moment due to the chest pain's etc., he is getting. Things must be pretty bad for you. Take care.
