dear Sheila

Good idea to have water or water plus salts. Not sure what to buy with electrolytes. Anyone else got ideas ?

Also, I keep blinds and curtains closed, on the sunny side of my bungalow.

Running cold water over your wrists helps a lot.

It is unusual to have this heatwave in mid June. It normally gets hot about 20th June.

I have always struggled in the hotter weather, worse after heart.problems and of course worse as we get older.

Best wishes

Sooty

I'm not sure but I have bought some effervescent tablets called sis only going to try one in water and I have bought coconut water as reading up about hydration and electrolytes coconut water natural containers electrolytes good for hydration apparently not sure about sports drinks as they have caffeinein and i have irregular heart beat which I've been checked the doctors not worried as again mild I'm 72 so have to be careful . I bought the sport range of these tablets as they have magnesium and potassium in them. I’m getting dreadful cramps at night and they seem to be helping.

hi Sheila , I’m struggling with this extreme heat too , I don’t do great with extreme temperatures since having a pacemaker . I’m just trying to stay inside as much as possible , even just putting the washing out is a challenge . I do enjoy summer but these heatwaves are too much for me and many others toounless you’re luckily enough to have air conditioning , which our home doesn’t , last night the bedroom was like a sauna 🥵. Have a good day , rest and drink plenty , try to stay cool x

Sitting outside in the shade sounds lovely , sorry to hear that your husband has Parkinson’s , my lovely dad was tested for that due to his symptoms , he had Alzheimer’s and sadly passed away March this year , I can only imagine how difficult things can be looking after your husband my mum did struggle with meeting dads needs at times . Take care x

The heat makes your heart work much harder and you really MUST stay well hydrated. When I feel particularly bad I take a sachet of dioralyte. You should stay out of the sun as much as possible. Do your gardening late evening. It's better for the plants too.
