Pre op assessment for bypass

Hi everyone,

Well I had my pre op assessment today for my bypass procedure..

4 hours of tests and examinations .

Very thorough , everything was investigated !

Only thing I was little concerned about was that I got no feedback at all from any of the professionals at the end of the procedures.

Has anyone else had experience of this ?

Birdy 🤔

Hello :-)

When you say the professionals do you mean those that did the tests or your Consultants

I am waiting for a Bypass op and I went the other week to have a load more tests done those that did the tests just said your Consultant will be in touch

I waited a week phoned the Consultants Secretary and asked if they would let me know what the tests had come back like , I did get a call another week later everything I think was ok well she never said anything was wrong

I would not worry I am sure they would be back asp if anything was wrong and you could always phone your Consultants Secretary and ask like I did :-) x

I don't think you get feedback routinely, except through the person who ordered the tests. I think it is to do with tightening up on confidentiality these days, and perhaps getting info from an inappropriate person.

Yes I agree , I think that is why my Consultant ordered the tests and I had to wait for her to give me the results I know though when they are doing the tests how it feels you wondering if they have seen something and you are there not knowing and having to wait it is an awful feeling

But then again the people that do the tests even if they think there is anything they have seen without the Doctors or Consultants looking at the results they cannot tell you anything , but still it is that waiting that can get to some of us :-) x

The pre-op assessments are just to check you are....'fit'.....for an operation. Although I had an AVR, the assessments are the same or very similar, and nothing at all was mentioned by anyone and the op went ahead as scheduled.

I wouldn't worry,

good luck.

Hi there,I have not experienced the same as you but when I was in hospital recently, I was in the emergency department first . You really have to find someone and ask if they can explain what is happening, or their findings. It's daunting enough being in hospital on your own without knowing what's going on too. Try to find someone to ask. Good luck
