Any experts on vitamins know much about the connection between taking statins (atorvastatin) asperin and vitamin K2 . The more you read the more complex it gets. Vit k2 may get depleted when on statins and is also good for clearing plaque BUT k2 supplements may act against the aspirin as they can be a coagulant.. any comments anyone ?

Vitamin K2 with meds
I believe K1 is more closely associated with clotting than K2. I had a stent in April last year and towards the end of the year took D3 + K2 MK7 for a couple of months and lived to tell the story. I shunned statins but am on aspirin. I stopped taking the supplements due to issues unrelated to the heart and clotting. You could try your GP but I'm not sure many of them are clued up about nutrition and supplements.
Thanks .. yes K2 and d3 are linked .. glad you survived. I can’t get passed the receptionist queries if I tell them I have a vitamin question for the doc. I purchased a great multivitamin but now feel reluctant to take it. Looks like K1 and K2 feed each other. I’ve just come off Presurgrel anti platelet so maybe not a good time to mess with clotting.
You should be able to get all the K1 you need from dietary sources, my understanding about K2 is that a primary source should be the gut microbiome, but a western diet means we have lost much of the gut flora required to produce K2 at sufficient levels.
I'm sure you know why we're talking about K2 and I'm certainly left wondering how much the lack of K2 plays into the obesity and heart disease epidemic in the west.
I plan to start taking it again at some point in the near future. It is frustrating when our medical professionals don't appear to be up to speed on this stuff.
Yes shame about the docs. My concern was a report that statins deplete Q10 coenzyme and K2 , im already on Q10 .. you should be ok as your not on statins etc ... thanks for your input .. stay healthy
