I would like some help or advice if possible, all my meds have been changed over the last 7 weeks since my ha, I was taken off beta blockers because my blood pressure was to low, changed from tricalegolor to clopidogrel and taken off aspirin a couple of weeks ago, I have got severe stomach problems. I went for an endoscopy a couple of weeks ago and almost collapsed my blood pressure was high and was having palpitations, the consultant wouldn’t do the endoscopy I will have to wait a further four weeks! He gave me a prescription for atenolol and said I needed to be on beta blockers for a year! I am taking esomeprazole for my stomach I saw a different gp the other day he told me to come off statins for a week I take pravastatin and to stop the clopidogrel for a couple of days he said it wouldn’t do any harm.

I don’t know what procedures you have had but after stenting I was told by heart specialist not to miss clopidrogel for even one day. I hope you get sorted out x

I haven’t had any procedures I have one blocked artery which they wouldn’t stent because it is an old blockage.

I suggest you ask to be seen by a Cardiologist to review your medication.

Ask them to clearly write in your clinic letter the reason they have made the recommendations.

Both you and your GP will get a copy of the letter.

My husband is on aspirin following a stent being inserted 8 years ago. The aspirin has irritated his stomach. He had an endoscopy which he will need again at some point. He was told not to stop taking aspirin and now takes Omeprazole which has helped him.

If you have stents don't stop that clopridigel without cardiology appointment.

Even if no stents I would have cardiology review your meds.

I'm sorry, I posted first then read you didn't have stents.

Stopping is your choice obviously, along with the consequences.

Your cardiologists run the show. If nothing else they deserve a call of awareness.

You need to get your meds reviewed. My husband was on clopidogrel and omeprazole for years but in 2010 there was research published suggesting that they should not be used together as the omeprazole reduces the effectiveness of clopidogrel. He was changed to aspirin. I have just checked with pharmacist Google and the same advice is there for esomeprazole and clopidogrel too. Asprin and esomeprazole are ok.

Make sure your doctor monitors your vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D3 levels as you are taking esomeprazole as it lowers stomach acid and can prevent absorption of vitamin b12 from food.
