Muscle aches and cramps

Morning nice to meet you all

I’m male 81 years six feet tall weigh 11 and a half stone average golfer and WAS fit !

H/A January 24th three stents NSTEMI

Usual meds Clopidogrel 75mg Apixaban 5mg ( initially Aspirin 75mg) Losartan 2.5 mg(was Ramipril 2.5 mg but got the sometimes usual dry cough and was changed to Losartan, cough now gone) lansoprazol 15 mg twice daily Zemtard 240 mg

Was initially taking Atorvastatin 80 mg !!

So I’ve developed major nighttime cramps mostly calves and daytime cramps in my hands

Also neck and shoulder muscular aches and pains

Seen a physio privately once a week for a number of weeks , great but muscle aches returns

So reduced Atorvastatin to 40 mg then 20 mg then stopped taking the drug all managed through the GP pharmacist!

Absolutely no change in my aches so the statin theory did not work for me !

I did not have these muscle problems before my H/A was playing golf three times a week and for an old codger pretty fit

I now walk a couple/ three miles most days but ache constantly

Anyone have ANY clues about medication mixes and my muscle ache problems?

Comments appreciated

Strangely enough, clopidogrel could cause muscle cramps: medicalnewstoday.com/articl....

It might be something about which to talk with your doctor. (Hope this link works.)

Just a thought..... has there been enough time for the Atorvastatin to leave your system? It took a while for me to be free of it.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the other medication you take as I am allergic to PPIs and loop and thiazide diuretics..... they give me severe aches and pains and make me feel absolutely awful. Therein might lie a clue.

Hi, I have similar aches and pains myself. When I wake in the morning the pains in my legs are pretty bad but do go once I’m up and about. Sudden aches and pains in my arms are a constant and my neck. I also had presumed it was down to the Statins as I have read this is a side effect from them. Reading that you have come off of them and still have the issue leads me to thinking our other common denominator is Losartan which I take also because Ramipril also gave me that cough.

Morning I sent you a long reply but messed up still new on this site

Suffice is to say that I have decided to keep off statins for a further couple of weeks

I get the perception ok a small perception that my muscles feel better!

Maybe the perception is in my head ha

Anyway I’ve also decided that @ 82 I’d rather feel well with maybe high cholesterol

Had some blood tests this week!

If I have a possible med contradiction I’ll let you know

Thanks for your interest have real good day

Vic
