Low Heart Beat

I'm 65, not unhealthy but no athlete! My resting heartbeat is usually between 42 and 45 bpm but I'm told that's not a problem. Should I be concerned?

That is very low. I guess it's not a problem if it's not causing any problems, but I personally would be concerned that I wasn't getting enough oxygen rich blood. I don't know if by resting you mean asleep, or just sitting around watching tv. Mine is also as low as yours while sleeping, but in the 60ish range awake during the day and I feel fine with that. If mine goes below 60 it makes me feel very weak and tired. Almost like I'm going to pass out. Everyone is different so I guess it's ok for you. Good luck!

100% agree, if no symptoms then it’s a very good HR.

If its been checked out and the professionals say thats Ok, then that is amazing. Lots of athletes have quite low resting heart beats. Mine sits at about 55 to 60 bpm. After having a mitral repair 4 years ago, thought it may go up, but it didnt. It does take me a while to get going when I do my power walking, after a mile, Im motoring, and at school I could never sprint, always the long distance runner, first every time over 1500 meters

Hi all - and many thanks for your comments, most reassuring. The 42-45bpm is my resting pulse during the day, no idea what it is at night. Generally I don't have any other 'symptoms' related to it ...... as far as I know. The only thing I have occasionally is palpitations but not severe by any means. Lisburb - I was also a cross country runner at school never a sprinter. Chime62 my SpO2% is typically between 95 and 97 but does sometimes fall to as low as 92 very briefly before rising again. Thatwasunexpected - no problems with dizziness or breathlessness and my pulse rises if I exercise if that's what you mean ;-) . I don't exercise regularly but bike ride a bit during the summer (electric bike) and have been walking a couple of times a week during lockdown. My bp is fine although I am on Amlodipine (calcium channel blocker) to keep my bp down. Thanks again for your comments.

The Anlopidine probably is making it a bit lower as well
