Hi sugarcrafter
A coronary angiogram is a procedure where they insert a thin wire into either a vein in your wrist or groin to inspect the arteries to confirm of any narrowing or blockages that can occur in the veins that may cause a heart issue. This is done in a cath lab and they will also inject a die into the body for x-ray purposes it's a pretty standard procedure 9 times out of 10 if can be done as an out patient. The procedure it self take about 40 mins and the person will need to stay lowing down for a few hours for the incision to heal.
Hi there,
It’s exactly as the reply above, but would just like to add...
Not painful, you have sedation so although still aware there is no pain and that 40mins is gone before you know it 😊
If you get offered one try and get them to pit you in a position where you can see the screens. It is a bit like looking at a bag with a big spider in it but if you get lucky they might point out where any potential problems are. If you can get a copy of any blood tests they too will be very informative and give more ammunition to carry out your own research in order to help your understanding of what can be done.
