Booster After Heart Issues

Hello

I'm 71, male, fit, and had the AZ double jab Feb & Apr. After 2nd jab I had worrying heart issues that I've never had before. Could be coincidence but unlikely. Looking at videos of people who've been diagnosed and had the same symptoms, it was carditis, myo or peri. I didn't feel quite bad enough to call an ambulance, and it has now 95% cleared glad to say.

My question is: Is there anyone out there who had similar problems with original vaccination, and who has then gone on to have their booster, and what happened?

I am speaking to my doctor but interested in any actual experience anyone's had.

Thank you

I’m going to ask the Nurse to aspirate re article by Dr John Campbell.

And me. There's no reason not to. My nurse friends was astonished it wasn't being done.

As Gaz_chops has already commented. The training given now is that aspiration is NOT necessary, when giving an injection in the upper arm.

Just out of interest would you wish to instruct your Cardiologist how to perform your angiogram?

in reply toMilkfairy

No but then again my Wife questions everything, just like when Candersartan were recalled and they had no idea at the HF Clinic.

I research any medication I am offered, any treatment.

I discuss the benefits and risks with my Cardiologist or GP and we then make a shared decision.

I Iive with a rarer form of angina, I have had to help some healthcare professionals update their knowledge base about my condition 😊

Don’t be surprised if they refuse, if they haven’t been trained how to then it is highly unlikely they will. And the training stopped using that method quite some years ago.

That's how I feel.

I'm thinking I might actually miss the booster, but before that get an antibody test done to see the situation (although I know antibodies aren't the whole story), and then wait for some of the treatments for covid to become widely available.

How do you get an antibody test?

Haven't done one yet but The Nuffield are advertising them, £65. Just about to book I'll let you know how I get on.

I just booked my test with The Nuffield. I haven't a clue whether it's worth doing or not to be honest, but I'll tell what's involved.

There are 30 centres in the UK and you have to travel to one to have blood taken. I'm going to Birmingham (Rubery).

They take blood and give you a result without 3-4 days, by email/whatever.

Here's the surprise, and no idea what this means. They give you a "yes" or "no" answer. So either you have antibodies or you do not. There's no level of antibodies! As I say, I don't know what this means, I was, in my ignorance, expecting a level of antibodies.

So if it comes back as yes I have antibodies, not sure that will tell me much, especially as I have been vaccinated, so there will/should be antibodies.

Anyhow, having my test next Tuesday and it'll be a nice day out.

Thanks; that counts me out hen as I can't travel.

Just getting back to you.

I had my antibody test at The Nuffield and it came back positive, i.e. I have a degree of protection against the virus, but obviously that doesn't mean I'm completely immune. But at least I know I have antibodies so that's something. They don't give you a level of antibodies, just a yes or no. But I guess that if they say yes, then it's a reasonable level, I trust The Nuffield.

Because I almost certainly reacted badly to the original vaccination, I won't consider a booster at the moment. Instead, I'll retest in a couple of months and if my antibodies have disappeared, I'll reconsider my position. But I was hoping that some of the new treatment rather than vaccines might be available by then, fingers crossed.
