I appear to be caught with dodgy kidneys (GFR 25) and a heart that needs Entresto to survive,
Entresto is damaging my Kidneys and my heart can't survive without Entresto.
Anyone else in this position?

I was put on Entrestro at the beginning of last year. My medical records state I have Stage 3 CKD, so the heart failure team must be aware. Is it accepted to Entrestro affects your kidneys and should I, like you, be worried?
no one has addressed our question. I am also eager to know the answer. No one told me the entresto could be why my kidneys are painful and high urine reading of something etc.

Hi, I take Entresto and my kidney function is 38. I was on warfarin for afib and eventually my kidney function dropped to 32. When I came off warfarin it went back to 38.
I asked my cardiologist about the meds affecting the kidneys and he told me they have to weigh up us staying on the meds to help the heart and having kidney function low. My EF is 23%, he also said if the EF is low in most cases the kidney function will be low.
Im on Entresto too and noone has told me that it can affect my kidneys, which were healthy before, so I will be looking into it. Like you I have heart failure caused by HA in September.
Hi, I've been on Entresto for almost 2 years for heart failure with an EF of 25%. No one has mentioned anything about kidneys. Best wishes.
Yes, entresto can cause kidney problems and if you read the warnings/symptoms when you are prescribed the drug it states MAY cause. Entresto is not the only GOOD drug on the market to treat a low EF, there are many older/cheaper drugs that can be just as good. I couldnt take entresto, but am taking valsartin which is one of the drugs in entresto. Maybe ask your Dr. if there is something more kidney friendly you can take. Take care
Hello I think it may be relevant to give a little more information like Dose of Entresto and other meds you are on ? Age is also a very relevant issue with regards to Kidney function.
I have very recently been hospitalised with Pneumonia and the consultant said my Kidney results showed a quite serious decline in function (due to pneumonia infection ) So they have with drawn Forxiga (dapagllition ) and my Bumetanide for 3 weeks as a precaution to any Kidney damage. The bit that may be relevant to you and others is that Entresto and Bisoprolol etc have been left in place. My GP confirmed yesterday that he agrees with the 3 weeks rest from Dapa and the Diuretic.
As far as I am aware Entresto may ease symptoms of Heart Failure but at the end of the day it is not a cure.
Regards
Hello, Just wanted to thank you for asking the question and wish you all the best! I am interested in the responses.
I have been "encouraged" to take Entresto due to my EF. Most of the heart drugs seem to be tough on the kidneys including Entresto, but I can't speak to Entresto from firsthand experience.
The diuretics seem to be tough on mine. They tell me to eat potassium rich foods (oranges, bananas, sweet potatoes, avocadoes, spinach, etc), but I don't know if that would help with Entresto.
