Low heart rate since Covid

My heart rate has dropped from resting 73 to 48. Even if I’ve been for a walk it drops from 120 to 50 in minutes. This has only happened in the last week.

I had Covid in October and was unwell for 4 weeks, tired for more. I was lucky not to have been hospitalised and my breathing was ok. I had tiredness, headaches, loss of taste and smell. This low heart rate happened when I had Covid and has been ok since but now it’s back. My heart rate is very erratic. I’m having an ECG on Friday, it’s very scary.

That must be so worrying, but good that your GP is investigating, and hopefully you will know more after the ECG.Let us know how you get on. People here have had experience of lots of heart issues, and, I am sure will be very helpful.

Hi Blue, try not to worry too much. Rest and let your body readjust itself. Do you actually feel unwell or are you scaring yourself? I had a very low heart rate in hospital just prior to Christmas - didn't feel unwell at all - and my consultant told me to stop worrying, the heart and body systems adapt to changes. This little blip is probably making you more anxious than you should be. Try to relax yourself and distract your mind from it. Rest and don't do any exercise until you get to your appointment and if you do begin to feel unwell, call your GP. In fact, call your GP today and have a chat about it for some reassurance. Don't let the surgery tell you they are busy, explain you need immediate guidance. You will be reassured when you have your ECG. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thank you. That was good to read. I have already spoken to my GP, he then arranged for the ECG. I do have an ectopic heart beat, so I’m wondering if that’s anything to do with it. I feel ok but I do suffer with anxiety, so thank you for settling me. I’ll let you know when I’ve had the results of the ecg.

Thank you so much for replying.
