I f your resting heart rate is below 50 are cold feet inevitable. I have had to get an enormous thick blanket from The Range to have any chance of warm feet. And it's July.

Cold feet can be caused by poor circulation amongst other thing. And poor circulation could be as a result of a low resting heart rate. However my resting heart rate is about 55 and can drop to the mid 40s at night when I am asleep and I don't suffer from cold feet. But if you have a sedentary life style that may be the cause of poor circulation so you could try exercising more if you are able. Even walking short distances will be beneficial. And if you are a smoker that won't help your circulation!

I cycle about 70 miles a week and have never smoked. I think the beta blockers are causing it by lowering my heart rate.

If the BB is causing bradycardia then ask your GP to lower the dose or change to a different BP medication if for blood pressure.

Can't be lack of exercise or smoking then 😆

I have always had a very low heart rate. Resting 39 to 45. Since heart attack and taking tiny dose of beta blockers, I have suffered cold hands, nose and feet. Not to the same extent as you, but it is definitely the beta blockers.

My GP took me off beta blockers to try and get my hands and feet warm, but it has made no difference. I am active and do lots of walking.

My husband always had warm hands and feet until he was prescribed a cocktail of medication after having stents fitted 4 years ago. Now he is never warm including his extremities. His heart rate often below 50 too.

Welcome to the Blue fingers brigade. Low blood pressure means that I am always cold. I find that socks at nighttime help my cold feet and keeping hydrated keeps the leg cramps at bay.

Not particularly glamorous!

Unfortunately I suffer with exactly the same .. I used to always have warm hands and feet but recently my hands and feet get freezing cold specially when I sit idle for a long period of time watching TV or checking the social media ... its strange that it only seems to happen in the evenings when I sit on the sofa and not at all during the day time or even at night when I go to bed!! I take only 1/2 Bisoprolol 2.5 a day in the mornings only and I doubt this could be the cause .. I have had multiple stents in three arteries in October 2019 and been taking 2 doses of Ticagrol 60 mg a day for the past two years and initially two 90 mg doses in the first year. I also take one Aspirin at night before going to bed. I am extremely worried of new blockages !! I walk around 5 Kilometre a day and play casual Tennis twice a week. I have lost considerable amount if weight. I used to weigh 100 Kg and now I am around 78. Will appreciate it if anyone can share their experience with me. Thank you all. Its really helpful to share my worries with people who share similar anxieties and concerns.

Warm feet? Only when I'm out walking in summer with boots and thick socks on, otherwise they're cold. For me it's down to Reynaud's and it's hereditary. It also affects my brother, daughter and son in varying degrees. I have cold hands as well. It has got worse since I started taking Bisoprolol, but I live with it as the medication is beneficial.

Having survived a cardiac arrest in 2020 I've had stents fitted and awaiting an arterial blockage in my leg being sorted. Appears I have furred up arteries, possibly throughout my body. Both hands and feet are cold 90% of the time, only getting warm after significant activity. Eating also sends my hands cold, often to the point I need pain relief.

For me it goes with the territory, so I wear Thinsulate gloves and thermal socks, plus use a blanket for my feet at night.

Wish you well on your recovery, take care.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience. It is much appreciated. But it seems I need to take this up with my Cardiologist and GP as I have not been taking this seriously enough

unfortunately same here, I tend to wear merino wool sock liners from a crowd called EDZ (even in the summer) along with my regular socks. Its strange but this only really started once I had my quad bypass, so I was putting it down to the meds and side-effects.

Hello there, yes cold feet and hands and yes I looked out my nice fleece blanket this week and sat all snuggled up. I have to take Sotalol twice a day and my resting heart rate ranges from 42/47bpm but I see the Cardiologist next week again as I have been referred for an ablation as my 'heart' doesn't like to be that low and any exertion ie walking and it won't go above 47bpm so it starts jumping and fluttering all over the place. If you are worried I'd get back in touch with your G.P as I did at the beginning of this year and expressed my concerns and he referred me straight back to Cardiology. Good luck.

Mine was 43 and I had cold nose and feet, doctor stopped my bisoprolol and my heart rate is now 58/64. No coldness in the summer but definitely in the colder months! I thought that was caused by the clopidigril and aspirin though

Bisoprolol definitely causes cold hands and feet. My heart rate is mid 50s but on Bisoprolol mid 40s regularly with transitory lightheadedness. One cardiologist told me that if I wanted to see another decade or two I definitely needed to be on them. Next cardiologist told me to come off them. Go figure.

Try bed socks - can get them from lots of places (Cosyfeet is where mine came from) and they really do keep your feet warm.

Strangely, I am ok at night! Even stranger, if I am getting cold feet in the day socks make them colder still.

I have literally just had to whip off my thick winter socks and get the thick blanket out to try and get warmer.

Hi Chooch Siesta, Are you on any medication including beta blocker? There can be direct relation between cold feet and slow heart rate which in your case is too low. On the other hand fast heart rate caused by other conditions of the heart may lead to poor circulation. Can you check your Blood pressure once you get up in morning and at other times at rest. With these readings make appointment to see G.P. . The first thing you will need an ECG to exclude Heart block which are of many degrees. Do you have any other symptoms?. Does it run as a familial condition? Finally how old are you because heart rate varies with age but should not be as low as that. Good to know you condition and surely get to bottom of it.

Had triple bypass in February and on beta blockers etc now. Had scans etc last year. Blood pressure is about 100/57. Just had my regular blood tests with no problems identified.

I use a hot water bottle all year round! In the car in summer I often have the windows open and the heater on my feet. Unfortunately my hands are the same.

Low heart rate means your heart isn't pumping enough blood to all your body..you should try to get more blood pumping to your extremities. One great way to get your heart rate up to use those bike pedals, you sit and pedal away, it'll really help. God bless you.

Hi ChoochSiesta!

I'm just wondering do you take other meds because I too have had cold extrematies since starting beta blockers but Atorvastatin and a load of other stuff. My HR is never above 55 resting now. It used to be 65-75 it is said to me that not to worry until a bit below 40 even then as long as I feel ok they just keep an eye on it. I had a stent - since that it's just been a weird sort of life on all this medication. Strange things. 🤷🏻‍♂️
