Has anyone any heart rate issues following covid? I tested neg on new years day but cardiologist thinks I did in fact have it and it has caused increase in resting heart rate, ectopic beats and a general increase of rate. holster showed range of 65 to 146 when I wasn't exerting myself at all. Has anyone had any experiences of this?
Thanks

Hi jackwex, I’m new to this forum, but I believe that my sudden onset of heart failure was caused by COVID, though I can’t prove it. Last February I as rotten poorly with what I thought was flu...I guess this was before we really knew about testing or even having COVID in the uk. As the year wore on I seemed to become more and more breathless and when I spoke to my surgery they assured me it must be a chest infection and dished out antibiotics. By last October, I couldn’t walk far without struggling and had started with chest pains, so I called the doc and within 15 minutes I had an ambulance with me and it was discovered by chance that there was something very wrong with my heart. Now I suffer from nerve damage and had for years but was always told I had a very strong heart. Well, I’m just a week on from having a pacemaker fitted at the age of 50 and I’m quite sure that it was COVID that brought it on! Have you been given an ecg yet? If not, press the cardiologist for one as I saw such a rapid decline that my heart is now swollen on one side. I don’t hear to try to scare you, but it’s so much better for you to find out earlier than later! Take care and rest as much as your lifestyle allows!
God that is scary! I've had 3 ecgs, an echo, a stress test and 24hr holster monitor, back up in 2 weeks for an ultrasound on the arteries in legs to check for circulation problems. Hoping things settle soon !
Is it an angiogram that you’re having? See if you can check if it’s a normal angiogram or a ct angiogram, as the latter doesn’t involve a camera going through the veins! I was lucky (I think) as mine showed no signs of any furring of arteries, but I did quit smoking straight away just in case! I do hope the fluttering goes for you. My pacemaker actually gives me fluttering, which I didn’t have before, but in a way, it’s reassuring as I know that it’s kicking in to help me! Take care
Some people have been diagnosed with postural tachycardia syndrome PoTS following viral illnesses, including covid. Have a look at the PoTS UK website for more information.
Although I was diagnosed with a heart issue (AFib) October last year and was prescribed the appropriate medication to help stabilise heart arrhythmia issue, I was generally ok and not that worried.
Then I caught covid and tested positive Dec 2020 and decided to just ride it out at home as is suggested. Basically, I just slept on and off for over 15 days due to fatigue etc taking paracetamol and drinking lots of water. Day 16 I collapsed was Admitted to a+E by ambulance with AFib flare up. CT scan revealed lung damage caused by covid but thankfully, no blood clots.
Todate, my heart condition is much, much, worse after covid...the infection played havoc with my heart and lungs. I know the AFib is more persistent now and triggered by the slightest degree of stress.
Sitting down or relaxing on bed my heart rate is 65. When I stand up and walk a few steps it jumps to 120 which according to my fitbit is fat burn zone. Weird.
Yeah had covid back in October but also had a number of other issues going on, stress and palpitations. Around Christmas I kept having runs of 130-152 in short periods. Had a loop monitor for 72hrs and i’m on Bisoprolol everyday.
