Hi All, I am on various drugs (75mg Asprin one a day, 90mg Ticagrelor twice a day, 8mg Candesartan one a day, 40mg Atorvastatin one a day) - I know that some of these (Don't know which ones) thin my blood and will cause me to bruise much more easily.
My question is;- Is there anything I can do / take to bruise less?
I seem to bruise at the slightest event, if I scratch myself a bit to vigorously I will come up in a massive dark blue bruise! and at work I am always bumping in to things and knocking myself (I am a manual worker). It looks like I have been in the wars good and proper!
I am trying to be more careful, but things happen!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Both the Asprin and the Ticagrelor are blood thinners and will cause you to be bruised. The ticagrelor is normally stopped after 12 months, and is by some degree the main culprit for the excessive bruising.
Sadly there is nothing you can take to prevent this, while I was on ticagrelor I frequently woke up in the morning with a new bruise and had no recollection on bumping myself to cause such a bruise.
I bruise very easy too not due to blood thinners but many years of cortisone. It would be wonderful to have something to strengthen our skin which also seems to thin as we age.
The only answer is to wrap up in cotton wool/bubblewrap 🤣. Seriously only answer is just to be more careful, unfortunately most of us heartiest have suffered this. 👍
Yes it’s most likely the Ticagrelor. I find bruises in areas that I didn’t know I have. I look like I’ve been in a fight sometimes! But the nose bleeds have settled. Now I just have blood in my nose but no actual bleeds. So I take that as a positive.
Perfectly normal. I looked as if I'd been in a boxing match until I came off ticagrelor. You shoudl have it stopped in a year's time. Mind you the aspirin still makes me bruise. You could try arnica ointment on the bruises to help them to go away
