post stent breathlessness (very worried)

i had a stent fitted in April 2020 straight after surgery i felt great now 4 months on i get breathless sometimes while resting sometimes when talking ive gone to hospital twice so far to get it checked out but after the usual tests not another heart attack but no answers my doctor has contacted the surgeon to arrange a stress echo but still waiting has anyone had similar experiences? as i get bedside myself.

I'm on medication post operation statins, plavex and asprin, metoprolol and an ace inhibitor whichwas switched as i coughed a lot causing chest pains which has helped but still get a bit breathless as stated above these were switched about 3 weeks ago.

advice or experiences please as i am beside myself as i have always been active but this is really pulling me down. thank you.

Hello Simon. I’ve had meds changed a couple of times because of breathlessness (atorvastatin and bisoprolol). I now have inhalers and find they are very helpful.

yes i will ask the question have had a date for appointment with cardiologist for next month so will ask the question

It could be the meds, it's a large cocktail of drugs you are on. It might be worth determining if all those meds are essential. Following a stent (also in April) I had lots of problems. I was placed on:

- A proton pump inihibitor

- ACE inhibitor

- Beta blocker

- Very high dose statin

- Clopidogrel

- Asprin

After two weeks I was having a real nightmare. I stopped all meds other than the two blood thinners and my cardiologist is fairly happy with that (although it is impossible to have a conversation without being told I should be taking statins).

I'm still having trouble, even though I'm only on two meds, but for now I can tolerate it.

See if there are alternatives, but also ask the question if each med is essential.

Hi Simon, I had 3 stents fitted in June and like you, felt pretty good straight afterwards (I am (believe it or not!) a pretty healthy guy most of the time )

Now, 2 months down the line, I am getting quite breathless.

I put it down to the Meds (Bisoprolol in particular) BUT I am no doctor.

I (After consultation with my Cardio Nurse and GP) have stopped the Bisoprol and am waiting to see if it makes a difference.

(I think it is a bit of trial and error until they can get the right cocktail of drugs for you without unduly side effects)

Hi Simon. I had a stent fitted to my LAD almost exactly a year ago and although I didn’t feel brand new again, I did feel better. After about 6 months I started getting angina and while they put me on isosorbide and gtn spray (as well as the usual cocktail of drugs) to control it, I too get really breathless. I’m currently waiting for my doctor to decide wether to send me for a nuclear test also. She said it could be any number of things causing it so you’re not alone.

Hi Simon

I am not as breathless now as I was then (I think stopping it helped) I still get a bit breathless for no apparent reason, but figure that's down to ny on 40 years of not looking after myself as I should have been! I think I am as healthy as I am gonna be and truly believe that a lot of my "ailments" are all in the mind! I can still do 30 miles on a bike at a reasonable pace and enjoy a good long brisk walk, so guess I have been very fortunate.

Hi! I had my H/A in April 2019 and had 3 stents fitted I had a further 4 fitted In November 2019 and a further 4 fitted in January 2020 and I still get very breathless some days are bad than others (like today) and have been told there’s is nothing more than can do!

well I'm hopeful that something can be sorted I'm trying to stay positive but it does get you down naturally some days more than others
