Still breathless after four stents

Anyone out there still breathless over two weeks after multiple stents? It’s starting to worry me, especially with lockdown making it so much harder to get reassurance.

Such good advice from Thatwasunexpected.

I had 5 stents at the first, then a total of nine, in dribs and drabs. I’m not suggesting it will be a long haul for you, and of course, I hope it isn’t, but get moving steadily and see whether your heart just needs to settle.

‘Hearts don’t like being messed about with’ I was told, .

I was due another angiogram, before all this madness, but I’ve found some brilliant daily training on line, and I walk fast for an hour each day. Angina is much reduced! I’m hoping I now won’t need another angio.

Nine stents! Goodness. So good to hear that you're walking fast. I had mobility issues before this, so I don't suppose I'll ever be racing, but I'll take any improvement with gratitude. The only real fear is the virus. As it probably is for all of us. Hope you won't need another angio. Many thanks for the message.

Good advice. Thank you so much. I think I need to be more patient with myself initially, and then try to get moving.

Sounds v sensible. Take it steady, but make sure you note, and celebrate each achievement! This virus is a real tester, isn’t it? Keep safe.

Do you have any fluid retention?

Thanks, Shopman.

Mild fluid retention, and some unexplained bloating, which could be many things.

That could be a contributing factor. A lot could be also due to your general fitness with the relief from the stents making you think you could do better than normal. As others say it is still early days but if you have concerns then don't hesitate to seek help.

Thanks again. I gather I’ve had long-standing CAD, so that won’t help. Better day today anyway, so I’m glad of that. Stay safe.

Hi Alessandra

I had four stents over eighteen months ago...

You have to take things easy for up to three months I was told. Did you check with your GP. ?Always check your blood pressure and record it day and night. If your blood pressure is normal I would not worry too much. My surgeon said if BP is normal there is nothing to worry about. I would get checked by the GP to be sure.

Thanks very much, Nephin. Good advice. Not too difficult to take things easy at present!
