cut a long story short.. i stopped taking prescribed aspirin and nicorandil due to diverticulitis flareup lasting 5 weeks.. since stopping.. no flareups.. told GP who contacted Cardiologist for further advice regards alternative to aspirin.. 3 weeks later GP called me today.. increase Isorobide Monitrate to 120mcg... problem is.. i’m already taking that!🤣.. plus.. NO mention from him regards aspirin problem
so now it’s been approx 4 weeks without a blood thinner.. God knows how sticky my arteries are becoming

Do let us know if you get an alternative. I'm going to have to stop taking my stomach protector as it's been banned and I'm allergic to the alternatives. Without it my ulcer will flare up and diverticulitis. Only option would be to stop aspirin which is not wise
Well, there's obviously ticagrelor and clopidogrel but they have he same effect on your stomach as aspirin. I assume you had soluble aspirin and did actually dissolve it in water and take with a meal.
Omeprazole is one of those I can't take. Are you certain it's the aspirin causing it because that normally affects the stomach rather than the bowel. I would be demanding the GP either gets on to the cardio or prescribes something himself. Mine stopped clopidogrel when I had terrible stomach pain but he only chose that to stop because "We know more about the side effects of aspirin". You might find that clopi or ticagrelor work better for you but please don't stay off aspirin unless you have an alternative or maybe even try a different PPI. My diverticulitis flares up for no reason.
i might start up the aspirin again without the omaprazole.. give it the whole week before Cardiologist appt.. see if the diverticulitis starts up again.. maybe the problem is the PPI
Please press for an alternative! My husband stopped his aspirin on GP Drs advice and it caused a blood clot in his heart that led to a MI. It was touch and go for 24 hrs. GP stopped it as hubby complained of acid stomach at time. No one should just stop, as far as his cardiologist was concerned. A gentle weaning off is recommended.
I wonder if it might be possible for you to suggest 75mg gastric coated Aspirin which is meant to help protect your stomach. Also I think you can get gastric coated Atorvastatin which might help. I can’t get on with PPIs and am on Nizatidine as Ranitidine has been withdrawn. Am really worried if this is withdrawn as well - what alternative is there?
