On Tuesday I had two stents fitted at Barts , i am on the following medication

Bisoprolol

Clopidogrel

Lansoprazole

Aspirin

Altorvaststin

Ramipril

I have only been on them a couple of days , but have started getting a thudding sensation in my neck that comes and goes .

Any ideas ?

Hi

I had valve replacement 2 weeks ago and notice very strong pulse feeling in my neck and/or chest - usually when lying in bed or resting my head in recliner.

I think it is simply that my 'new' heart is more efficient than it was, but still works at its old rate. I imagine the feeling will fade over the next few weeks.

But, we're all different, and if it makes you anxious call your GP/cardio nurse

You don't say what dosages you are on or how long you have been taking each but there are two items that could be the "culprit" - but like all things it does take a little while to adjust to taking new or altered meds. As Steve says if anxious/concerned call for advice or alternatively call the BHF Heart Helpline for a chat with one of their nurses on 0300 330 3311.

You are on standard recognized medications after your operation. I do not think that the medications are causing the neck pains. But if the symptoms persist you should seek advice from your GP/Specialist. Best wishes for a smooth post-operative recovery.

I have had a stent put in a and told I have here iam on the same medication apart from the last one and have had severe neck pain and pain in back between shoulder blades it has calmed down a bit since doc told me to come of the station but flares up at night .I think it could be the bisoprolol it's the only one I have not dabbled with yet .I've had this for four month now hard to get something done because of covid but it has to do with the medication if you figure it out please let me know iam at my wits end.

Hi Ian on same meds after stent doctor took me of atorvastatin seems to have calmed down but not completely I think these pills interact with the lansoprazole. I've had sore neck for four month doctor just says it's some mysterious medical problem but try coming of the statin.
