I have heart failure and AF. A few weeks ago I noticed that my neck vein on the left side bulged and very noticeable now. Does anyone have this? I am very worried that it means my heart failure has worsened. Any comment will be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Thank you very much for your comment. 🥰x You take care as well and all the best to you.
hi. It could be nothing but it might be worth giving 111 a call. There is something called jugular vein distension which needs medical treatment but obviously I’m not a doctor and it could be many other things. I just think that it wouldn’t do any harm to have it checked. I had a similar thing after I had a jugular catheter taken out but mine just turned out to be swelling. It could be nothing but it’s worth getting checked.
Hi I think it's worth mentioning to your medical team. I don't really know much about the veins in your neck but I do know that my husbands cardiologist has often felt his neck for swelling so it may or may not be significant.
When I saw my cardiologist on Wednesday he checked for the veins on my neck so there must be some significance there so I agree with others on here worth just checking it out
No idea about the problem but why not ring the B HF nurse helpline. I rang them yesterday about a problem with the meds I was just put on and they we re wonderfully helpful. bhf.org.uk/ scroll right down to where it says contact us or get help for the number
hi. How did you get on with your GP? Hope all is well
Hi Thank you for asking x. He didn’t seem too worried, he had a look at it, examined it and tried to reassure me that it was just a skin fold and not the vein and it might have been caused by my weight loss. When he saw I was still worried he told me he would ask a neck ultrasound scan to put my mind at peace, So, he managed to calm me down temporarily but I shall only be happy when I get the result which of course will take some time.
hi that’s really good news that you managed to see your gp and that he was reassured that it wasn’t anything to worry about. The scan will hopefully put your mind at ease but I do understand why you felt anxious when you’ve already been through so much, it’s natural. Let us know how you get on. X
Well done for going to see your GP its sonething we put off and put off and sit worrying....glad he responded to you looking so worried good luck xx
Thank you very much for your comment. I am a born worrier and recently I have promised to myself that if I am worried about something, I won’t just sit but try to find a way to do something about it.😊 Take care and LoL 🥰x.
