Good afternoon. new member recommended her by a friend. Straightforward question, I had three stents fitted last week to repair damaged arteries and have started getting pains in my neck. Has anyone experienced anything like this? No other problems and no chest pains. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Having neck pain after stents fitted
Hello Dyfarnwr, I too am having neck pains 3 months post operation. My research shows this is probably caused during surgery, surgeons are not gentle folk and put you in all sorts of positions. It can take up to 12 months to go, can occur any time after surgery and if you are unlucky, can be with you for life.
However, it is easy for people to put everything new down to the heart condition. This is NOT always true so try to consider if there may be another cause just in case.
For neck pains after stents (when you've not previously had neck pains), I would contact your heart specialist that inserted your stents to ask about it. Because sometimes pains radiating up the sides of the neck can be cardiac in origin, in case there should be anything happening in the heart during the early days immediately following stent insertion.
I also had 3 stents fitted recently - 2 stents, end-to-end, fitted in Oct in the right coronary artery, and then 1 stent fitted in Nov in the left anterior descending artery. They couldn't do both arteries simultaneously in Oct coz fitting 2 stents, end-to-end for the severely blocked right coronary artery involved a lot of 'work' and they feared destabilizing the heart function. So, the left anterior descending artery less severe blockage had to be done separately a month later, sufficient with only 1 stent.
Let us know what your stent guy advises about the new neck pains! Hope you get hold of him/her easily for this advice
Hi, I’ve had several procedures with 8 stents fitted in all the main arteries...never experienced this neck pain. Would recommend you see your cardiologist to discuss further. Hope that helps... Good luck.
Thanks to all those who have taken the trouble to reply. The pains are significantly easier than when I posted the original comments and I'm due a check up in about a week so I'll mention it then and keep an eye on it in the meantime.
Hi, yes I had the same problem for a couple of weeks after I had stents , it felt like a trapped nerve .. this died down after about a week
Hallo, and welcome to the Club. You don`t say where the stents were fitted. Put simply, stents are there to reinforce the arterial walls....which means increased blood-flow....which means PAIN because that part of the body has been starved of blood.
Following 5 heart attacks, a cardiac arrest and arterial aneurysm (bulging artery) I had three stents put in my abdomen. Took me a year to learn to walk again....BUT I`M ALIVE.
People forget the body has taken a bloody good thumping and needs time to recover. I now swim 30 lengths a day, walk the dog miles and still endure a `nagg...sorry dear`. Life goes on.
Carpe diem...`seize the day`. Let your body recover and surprise them all when you next pop down to `the local`. Oh Sorreee, alcohol may be BAD for you. Drink at home, haha.
Good luck,
Frank.
