Nightmare on Bisoprolol
Hi there
I was put on 2.5mgs bisoprolol for exactly the same reason.
I wish I had never started it I had anxiety which I have never suffered with and felt very depressed. Doctor told me it helps anxiety and depression not causes it. How wrong he was I have had to wean off because it caused me very low blood pressure and several other side effects. I have been weaning now for 7 months and now down to just under .5mg and feeling more my normal self, no longer breathless or so tired and much brighter. On say this I have had horrible withdrawal symptoms which have been very stressful but I am hoping to be completely off this nightmare drug in about six weeks. It has made me loose a year of my normal life.
Search bisoprolol buddies and see what other people have to say about this drug.
Thank you for your reply and glad your feeling better and hopefully you will manage to get there just go at your own pace what’s right for you
Keep well
Hi Ronnie
If only there weren't all these darned side effects, these medications would be perfect. Unfortunately, even meds that are designed to treat anxiety and depression, for example, have as a possible listed side effect - increased anxiety and agitation, along with suicidal feelings. It's crazy. In my humble opinion, as an experience mental health nurse - every medication carries unwanted side effects, and in my experience with thousands of patients, heightened anxiety and agitation is one of the worst. Unfortunately it's taking a long time for this to filter through to the medics - most of them just don't believe it.
Bisoprolol is fairly notorious . . .
Hi, I was on bisoprolol 2.5mg for svt and then increased to 5mg once daily. Never felt so ill!! Took me over 6 weeks to withdraw and the anxiety was horrific. I'm 6 months down the line, bisoprolol free but still suffer anxiety which I never ever had before. Cardiology specialist doesn't acknowledge that it's related. Awful drug for some of us.
