Hi Jason. The medications are probably the cause of the weakness. They take some getting used to. The stress of the heart attack may be causing the palpitations. Get him to relax and not worry. I can’t comment on the readings but I’m sure one of the stars ⭐️ will be able to help on this site. We’re all here for you both. Take care.
2 weeks out I also had palpitations... it’s the medicines and your body healing .. with time they ease... i would recommend that you google the side effect of all the medicines he’s on... and print them out... if your on BUPA .. ring the nurse...
Hi Jason. Like your hubby I'm two weeks post heart attack, though only had one stent fitted. I too get some 'flutters' and palpitations and have been told it's the body adjusting to the meds and the heart trying to recover from the trauma of the HA. It's a worrying time and anxiety definitely makes my 'flutters' worse. Also like your hubby, I feel horribly weak a lot of the time and the tiredness is overwhelming....but I try to do a little often, even if it's just walking round the living room a couple of times, or planning healthy meals. I'm trying to take positive steps everyday and have found reading the posts on this forum such a comfort and reassurance that things will get better. Love and best wishes to you both.
And to you. I really appreciated this email, thank you. You're right, it is a very anxious time. But he seems to be making small improvements each day, so I'm hopeful for the future. He has definitely changed his diet, and stopped drinking. It's already showing, he's losing weight, his skin and eyes are clearer and he's not having blood sugar highs and lows.
I know what you mean about this site btw, it's so helpful. Funnily enough Jason gets quite angry with me when I express any concern about him, so I've stopped. But am finding healthunlocked really helpful.
I'm the same...everyday I feel a little stronger and can see small improvments. When I came out of hospital I was breathless just walking to the downstairs loo, now 10 days on I'm doing some light housework, going up and down stairs, and just generally keeping mobile around the house. My diet was so unhealthy and over the years my weight has fluctuated so much and I've tried every type of fad diet there is going. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two years ago and in hindsight I just don't think I took it seriously enough and that has had been a major cause of my heart attack, I'm sure. Like your hubby, I've radically changed my diet and found that I'm really enjoying all the fresh fruit, salad and veg, rather than the processed meals I was living on before. It's been one hell of a wake up call!
One thing I'd like to ask, is Jason getting any twinges at all? I get the occasional sharp twinge/pain in my chest and arms....nothing like the cardiac pain that I experienced when I had the HA though. The cardio rehab nurse (who has been so helpful!) said it's to do with the stent 'bedding in' to the artery yet even though I know that it still sends me in to a panic when I get these twinges!
Keep us updated on Jason's progress and don't forget to take care of you as well.
