Curious as to who has the ability to delete posts and why this would be done with no explanation?

We can delete our own posts. Not sure if administrators can or not.
Administratiors can. It usually means a post has gone grossly outside the guidelines. Usually they would lock a thread.
If these are what you are referring to, i fail to see anything that is applicable!
I have pm'd an administrator.
Community Guidelines
As a member of HealthUnlocked you are expected to follow a few basic guidelines to ensure that every user feels safe and comfortable engaging with others in their communities.
Professional Health Information
The information posted on HealthUnlocked can support, but will not replace the relationship between you and your doctor or any other healthcare professionals. Information from this site may inform your discussions as well as the exploration of treatment options with your healthcare professionals. You should always consult a healthcare professional if considering changing your medication or treatment.
Community Atmosphere
Your participation in HealthUnlocked should be with respect, honesty, and in the spirit of supporting and learning from your fellow users.
HealthUnlocked is not a forum to create negative impressions about identifiable individuals. Negative and damaging references to identifiable individuals may be edited or deleted either by HealthUnlocked or by a community administrator. We hope that users will respect the right of other members to present their individual health experiences, regardless of whether or not they are in agreement, and that all disagreements will be expressed considerately.
Publishing Content (Questions/Posts/Replies/Private Messages)
Anything published on HealthUnlocked should be understood as being the views of that individual and does not necessarily represent the views of a particular patient group or of HealthUnlocked as a company.
As a member of HealthUnlocked, you agree to publish information that is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and you agree to publish information that is primarily drawn from your expert knowledge or personal experience. You always maintain the option of deleting any content you have submitted at any time.
When you publish information from third party sources, such as information about new treatments, you are asked to provide references and links wherever possible.
If an account is suspected of violating any of these guidelines as stipulated above, particularly in the instance of bullying or spamming, that member's account may be restricted or banned.
Unfortunately as your post has been deleted I had not read it so am unable to comment! My little jest about Unclear Messages got locked this morning as it had become politicalised. There is always a reason for administration's actions...
It seems a bit stupid to just delete with no explanation! If the post doesn't conform to a guideline/TOU then surely knowing how it doesn't conform helps to stop it reoccurring!
The post in question said something along the lines of "it sounds like you are dropping a "beat", best to contact your GP who may suggest a 24hr tape"
I fail to see how that doesn't conform:
Quote
"Publishing Content (Questions/Posts/Replies/Private Messages)
As a member of HealthUnlocked, you agree to publish information that is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and you agree to publish information that is primarily drawn from your expert knowledge or personal experience."
The subsequent post suggests it also said something like "it's nothing too worry about". Without a full and complete transcript it is impossible to comment.
It said -
"Asked my brother and he said it sounds like you are dropping a "beat", suggests to contact your GP and ideally he may organise a 24hr tape.
It is nothing to worry about and not uncommon in your circumstances i.e. HA.
Out of interest do you know which part of our heart was affected by the HA."
Hi Hidden , in some cases we will remove a post if it is flagged as a cause for concern. We ask that people avoid posting anything that could be seen as a diagnosis or medical advice, as this should come from a health professional.
Hi Helen_BHF,
I see many posts that could be deemed as "advice" yet they remain! There is nothing (i can see) in TOU or guidelines that relates to giving advice, other than -
"you agree to publish information that is true and correct to the best of your knowledge and you agree to publish information that is primarily drawn from your expert knowledge or personal experience."
The post was information from a Health Professional an advanced nurse practitioner who specialises in cardiology, it is quoted above, it says "sounds like" & "suggests to contact your GP" not sure what that contravenes!
Gaz
Hi Gaz, the post was probably reported by one of the regulars. Happens a lot if they don’t like something or someone’s opinion is different to theirs 🙄. You’ll figure it out. 🤞
Hi, yes i have been told this, also been told that as the forum has grown the "clique" is ganging up on new users! Hopefully they will review the situation.
I see a few of them giving advice without any qualifications to do so!!
Thx
Gaz
And you’ve just proved exactly why admins generally don’t explain why a post is deleted. Self righteous indignation and protracted debate as to the validity or otherwise then takes place.
My stance on admin on various s/media forums etc is ‘that if you don’t trust the admin, feel free not to use the page / site’.
Incidentally, people don’t like being described as ‘a clique’ and your assertion that newcomers are ‘ganged up on’ is utterly ludicrous. I see it Occasionally on hobby groups, not here.
But they did explain! They replied to my PM.
If someone (not admin) points you to the rules, but can’t say which rule, then reports you, I think it’s fair to ask the question.
Have a lovely day
Gaz
They did. And you subsequently proceeded to continue the unnecessary debate, rapidly followed by insulting existing members, and then started arguing with me.
I’m having a perfect day thanks.
LMAO
You are the one replying with attitude, no one else!
I think you started the argument by replying!
Where did I insult any existing members?
Gaz
Adaboo spot on!!
At times this site is akin to a club for the 'Special' people. The criteria for joining is complex and changable but basically you must agree and not raise a topic that is not on the clubs agenda.,
If I see test results for diabetes and it is above normal high then I will say the poster has diabetes.
This is not diagnosis as some members will say.
Same with any blood tests. The normal figures are there for all to see. Stating that the person has hypokalemia or whatever is not a diagnosis as some would say. Waiting for a doctor to tell you that your red blood cells are elevated does not suddenly make it so. The numbers are there in black and white. The diagnosis is made by the numbers.
Same goes for the ECG wave periods and intervals. They all have international minimum and maximum values. If I see that they are out of range I will say so and what it means. The tables are there for all to see plus the condition associated with the anomaly. This is not diagnosis.
And you’re qualified to make those comments?
And you have the audacity to say others are causing an argument, insulting others starting an unnecessary debate!!!!
