Warning , Ignore the BitCoin Posts that have popped up on the site today

Just popped on to read the posts and seen a list of four of these Bitcoin posts. They are advertising scams and need to be ignored or avoided.

They have nothing to do with health in anyway.

Leaving them up is inappropriate because some vulnerable or confused forum users could still feel they should follow the links and become stressed by that interaction or scammed out of money by doing so.

I'm rather surprised that these have not been spotted and removed immediately by the moderation team , especially as there are so many of them and they have turned up on a working day.

Please remove these as soon as possible for the safety of our forum users.

I will say I am annoyed by this delay in action , how can an advertising scam be left alone on the forum page but a member can be restricted without notice for posting a quiz which they had permission to do from Admin.

There seems to be a lack of balance in site adjudication in these matters.

I don't usually get involved or incensed by these admin related matters but this has even annoyed me, Bee

Yes , I reported them all to HU too they thankfully seem to have had them removed , but realistically I do think that these things should be noticed a lot quicker and removed without us needing to get HU involved and needing to report them , as happens on many HU forums.Only because of the damage they can cause to people vulnerable to scams following the links before a user reports them and get the HU site involved.

Hope you are feeling ok, hugs , Bee

I appreciate your good wishes and hugs Bee. I’m struggling a bit but still keeping my fingers crossed for some improvement.

I hope you are doing as well as is possible. 🌸

I added a reply to you but it seems to have disappeared!A number of us reported it to HU and they were taken down.

My feeling is that it shouldn't have come to that point , especially on a working day, and scams should be removed by BHF moderators without the need for self reporting by members to reduce how long they remain up there until someone makes the effort to report it and the chance to be read potentially causing people to follow the links to the scams.

Sometimes it takes several reports for these posts to be removed.

My concern is that when it comes to scam posts , including a drop of four at once, which happened on a week day when Admin moderation is available , these posts shouldn't get to the point when general forum members need to be responsible for noticing them and then taking the step to report them. Moderators should be reading the post titles as they come up and removing them with speed before they are there long enough to be read by a large amount of the forum community. That is a system that is working successfully on many forums on HU with most members never getting to see or read the scams that try to invade them.

If you run charity supported forums on various platforms you also need to take the responsibility to properly police them or users lose confidence in their ability to use them safely.

Self or Forum based reports to HU can be too late to stop the damage to vulnerable members . It's more understandable that this happens at the weekends on forums without dedicated weekend moderation ; then reporting to HU becomes vital , but I don't think it's acceptable when it occurs during the working week.

Take care , Bee

I too share your concerns, Blearyeyes - and thank you for raising this issue.

To be honest this post itself is proof that the forum isn't being regularly moderated and getting basic safe guarding during working hours. This post was up for two and a half hours before the working day closed but despite the alert just reading the title should have given to an active moderator checking in I received no message , even an automated reply to say they were looking in to it and an apology for any delays.

It points to the fact that the forum is not being regularly checked throughout the day even on a basic level . It's just not on. Reporting something to HU is the only way things are addressed which in itself can take time or cause people being temporarily restricted until it's assessed that they've not actually broken any HU or Forum rules.

I've said it before , other forums do not suffer as much with these issues.

They have volunteers from the forum community whom take turns keeping an eye on posts and replies weekdays and weekends whom inform the Administrator by direct means of any problems and things that might need removing ,or commenting upon, immediately, to maintain the efficiency and positive environment of the forum for its users.

This creates less work for Admin with a speedier reaction to problems.

Other forums seem to understand they need help to safeguard the site within the community.

It creates a healthier space for everyone , 24/7.

I just wish that they'd consider doing it here.

Hugs , Bee

It must be difficult policing a site 24 hours every day. I wonder whether post like that could be blocked in the same way that scam phone calls can be blocked.
