I personally found Staysure very good. Never had to make a claim - which is usually the acid test!
I had always used Saga, but they became very expensive. I then went to stay sure. Not cheap, but not as expensive as saga.
Depending on where you want to travel and your symptoms. I found the post office cheapest for unlimited travel in Europe. This was after six other quotes
Do you know something that we don't.I can't see you travelling anywhere this year, unless you've got your own private airplane.x
I've got insurance with Staysure, good level of cover in the event of needing to make a claim. Insurance is looking a bit pointless at the moment, currently getting refunds for holidays that are unable to take place! 😢
I am impressed by your optimism. I cannot imagine holidays at present unless it's a staycation and even that would be limited to the field behind our home!! We have over the years used Flexicover All Clear and Staysure. The latter has for some reason become more reasonable in price ( or the others dearer)
Remember these are all on line brokers and you may find some use the same underwriters ( most of whom seem to be based in Europe) We asked about this regarding that underused word Brexit and were told contracts were in place at present.
Hello Weeds50. I am thinking about holidays. But not sure when they will be still at present. Going to be ringing our company All Clear up. Because in the present situation we have a Annual policy we cant even use. So hope they give a discount on renewal in November. Take care Brian
I found Insure and Go very reasonable.
Recently had an impressively complicated letter which said (I think) that if a claim is even remotely linked to corona virus - forget it. But for anything else we are OK. As SotF said earlier, it 's a new game now called 'get your money back'. If my understanding is correct, the FO Advice for over 70's is still stay in and don't go anywhere.
We were in Cyprus for a fortnight in March. First week great, walking in the sun, buses here, there and everywhere, trips into the mountains, coffees overlooking the harbour and a leisurely walk back. Ballroom dancing in the evening, after an early self select buffet, loads of food everywhere, just go help yourself or tell the chef what you want. Not gluten / lactose free cakes though. Seems like a fantasy. Another world.
As the outbreak commenced all the activities closed, no new holiday makers arrived, and we watched the hotel emptying around us and everything start to close. Suddenly being on a little Island in the middle of Eastern Med did not seem to be such a clever Idea. Fortunately we were with TUI and got flown out on one of the last flights. Others were not so lucky.
Last October we booked to have a week walking in Austria in June. At the moment everyone is being advised not to travel and the over 70's to stay in. The holiday is not cancelled at the moment so if we cancel now we lose the deposit, as no one is sure what the situation or the advice will be in June.
The Austrians and the Germans are steadily re-opening their facilities. Jet2 are selling tickets for June 15th onwards. Their Health service and testing systems are well ahead of ours.
If the UK says I can't go I get my money back. The travel company is advising me to pay the full balance shortly, along the lines of "You will get a full refund if it's cancelled". Good game isn't it.
