Ramipril

I had been taking this medication for a couple of months when I developed a productive cough. The cough got increasingly worse and the doctor initially thought I had a chest infection. The cough has persisted for 4 months to the point it was making me vomit from coughing so hard and all the phleghm. I was trying to clear my throat constantly, but it wouldn't shift, it was horrible. I couldn't sleep through coughing (and was keeping my husband awake too). The Dr initially thought it was not the ramipril as that should be a dry cough but mine was productive. I had antibiotics then a chest xray which was clear, then sinus spray, then blood tests to see if it was an allergy cough...clear. I researched and decided to stop the ramipril. 12 days after stopping the meds and after 4 months of horrific coughing, my cough and phlegm has almost gone....not completely but almost! I have read it can take up to a month to clear. I now have different blood pressure tablets to pick up and am hoping those do not have bad side effects. I am vegetarian with a view to now moving full plant based to try and get off meds all together one day.

Yes especially with covid around, I've had to keep explaining to people that I have had this for 4 months due to medication as they looked at me in the chemist in horror. I have stayed inside for the last 4 weeks though

I came off ramipril for the same reason but Candesartan caused terrible tachycardia so I was also taken off that and now take nothing apart from one low dose furosemide which is just enough to keep my BP acceptable.
