Is this too low? I collapsed in the shower this morning and my husband says he thinks it’s my blood pressure.

Really depends on your circumstances. What meds your on. Your readings are what my targets were eight weeks after operation. Now I am about 120/68. And gp delighted. May found silly but your shower may have been too hot 🥵. I know that six to ten weeks after surgery I was really tired after a shower and my BP would rise too about 95

I’m on bisoprolol 5mg and Losartan 12.5mg.

It is quite low but the important thing is that you collapsed. You definitely need a discussion with your GP about this but possibly it is bp related.I wish you well.

I just took it again and it’s 112/68. I’ll see how I am in the morning. I feel much better now maybe because I take tablets after breakfast. Maybe I’m putting on too much weight with all this cooking and baking 😂. I think I may have been rushing about too much as if just had my walk and got straight into the shower. Thanks everyone.

My blood pressure sometimes goes really low if the weather warms up and I have been exercising. I lie on the bed for 10 mins and feel 100% after that.

The clinical definition of low BP is anything under 90/60, however as per other replies, it’s quite an individual thing. Your numbers wouldn’t be giving me massive cause for concern, personally, however that’s not to say it couldn’t be causing you to feel poop if you’re experiencing drops. I was put on bisoprolol to manage SVT, my blood pressure was gold star and always had been, and quickly developed fairly severe orthostatic hypotension. If I stood up quickly, or even at a normal speed, my BP plummeted, I felt faint, and I’d start having horrible, uncontrollable shaking fits. Aside from being very unpleasant, it was also pretty embarrassing if I’d rushed up to answer the door to the postie! After about 3 years on bisoprolol, I was in hospital following a planned operation and woke up to nurses hooking me up to fluids because they’d done the 6am obs and my BP had been through the floor. We subsequently discovered that my BP was routinely v e r y low first thing in the morning, although I didn’t ever experience any symptoms associated with my 70/40 BP, and entirely attributable to the bisoprolol. I ended up switching meds to a calcium channel blocker a couple of years ago, and the orthostatic hypotension went, but my BP has also been steadily heading in the wrong direction since then anyway 🙄

Do you routinely monitor your BP? It might be worth doing so for a few days, just to see what’s occurring. Particularly check it if you’ve been sat quietly for a while e.g. if you’ve been reading a book or doing something relaxing with limited movement - that’ll give you the best indication of how low your BP is getting. It’s also worth mentioning that the temperature of the water in the shower could have been a factor: hot water can quite commonly trigger a faint that essentially originates from a drop in BP caused by the heat dilating the blood vessels. If your BP is on the lower end of normal thanks to the bisoprolol, the shower might have just dropped it that bit too low.

I hope you'll report the collapse and BP readings to your GP or the medic supervising your medical care. Doing so means you'll be spared the worry - he/she will be able to work out if there is anything to worry about but can't if they don't know you've had a collapse and odd BP readings.

If you have a waterproof stool or chair, it's helpful to have it in the shower cabinet. I love mine.

My multiple mild(ish) heart conditions mean too warm and humid an environment causes me to become a bit light-headed. I usually avoid enjoying a hot shower but every now and again I indulge and having the seat means no more worries I'm going to faint in the shower.

Hi

My Blood Pressure is really up and down along with my Heart Rate and it all should be under control with 7.5mg Bisoprolol and Entresto 49/59mg so my Bisoprolol has been increased up to 10mg to see how it goes !!

As someone said earlier 90/60 is the start reading for Low.
