Is government texting vulnerable people?

My husband aged 71 has mild copd, high bp and had part of a lung removed last year plus a few minor illnesses.

He has just received a text allegedly from NHS Coronavirus Service telling him to stay home for 12 weeks.

Has anyone else had one? Is this genuine? Any ideas?

Thanks, Nicole

I think there was mention of some people being texted, and with your husbands COPD it's very likely. You could just ring your surgery confirmation though.

If you have a number I can try and check it out. Use messaging in the first instance please...

It is becoming clear that some GP surgeries are contacting at risk patients by text message. You should get official written confirmation from tomorrow (Tuesday) onwards.
