After my results my ef stil 31 but it’s only four months since changing meds I wondering how long does it take for improvement and will I be in need of a icd as at the moment I have hf stage one but I feel quite worried if things will get worse or can I manage on medication and eating well

Hi Yas. My HF nurse always told me that your EF is just a number - it's everything else that's going on that tells the docs how well you're doing. Yes, your new meds should have settled in and be doing their job by now, and they might well be, it's just that your EF has stayed the same. Talk to your nurse/doctor/GP and ask them to set your mind at rest. Or talk to the BHF nurses on here.

Please try not to worry that your EF hasn't improved. It doesn't mean there's been no overall improvement xx

I think it’s cos read on results said severe damage to heart muscle from previous heart attack but I feel ok and thinking if only meds can improve the ef I have got apt cardiologist in April but with all the virus goin on I wonder if they will cancel it and therefore making me more anxious and don’t know who to ask most people are concerned with Coronavirus

Yes, when I had my heart attack I was told the damage was moderate to severe, but 21 months later, with the cocktail of drugs, I'm now mild to moderate. My EF has changed significantly.

I had a pacing check today for my ICD, so the technicians are still working. Hopefully you'll still get to see your doc in April. xx
