Try and keep yourself gently active to help you pass the time, lose a little bit of weight if you need to and read up on the post op recovery procedures so can get yourself organised for when you come out of hospital.

Find out about the rehab provision in your area. Get yourself some light reading and loose clothes. Buy a V shaped pillow. Read up on the Mediterranean diet. If there are any books you haven't read, get them organised so you take advantage of this unrivalled opportunity not to read them again.

There are plenty of people with success stories in this group so if you want any more information just ask. I am sure everyone here will look forward to welcoming you to the zipper club.

Hi, I am 3 years on from mine, telling you will be fine sounds like empty words but you really will be. As you say it needs doing the day before my surgery my surgeon came to see me and his last words were “shall we do this?” There was only one thing to say let’s go for it!

As others have said gather reading matter together try and keep active to pass the time.

Best wishes.

Hi, I had a quadruple bypass on Christmas Eve at Basildon...I had my 6 week assessment at Basildon this week and was given the all clear and signed off. I walk most days and I'm now up to 3 miles. I had shoulder aches & pains for the first 2/3 weeks but they went almost overnight and I'm well on the way to a full recovery. All the best for your op.
