So my surgery for double bypass is this coming Friday. Going in on the Thursday . it is being done at the private spire hospital in Southampton .my question is has any one on here had their surgery at the spire ? As my daughter wants to see me after surgery will she be allowed in icu to sit with me a while ?
Another question , I am still working and as I have been asked to stop asprin and ramipril already its making me very anxious at work and I feel more breathless . Could this just be anxiety?
Thanks

No experience is Spire hospitals but know people who have and they were all positive experiences.
Your daughter will be allowed to visit you although you will sleep a lot for the first day after surgery. Some people hallucinate because of the morphine so she should be prepared for this and keep hold of your mobile!
I suspect you are just anxious but once you are admitted the sheer professionalism (it is their day job and they are highly experienced at it) will calm you. The ramipril has to be stopped there can be an interaction with the anesthetic and the aspirin to stop you bleeding profusely.
Thank you Michael she said she doesn't care if I'm asleep she just wants to be allowed in to sit with me . She would need to video me if I came out with nonsense otherwise I won't believe her lol
Hope this cheers you up - my husband;s friend (Isle of Wight resident) had his major heart operation there eight weeks ago. Said it was wonderful and has made a quick recovery - he had nothing but praise for the whole experience. Best wishes.
Hi, ooooh good luck, you are bound to have anxiety, deep breaths, ....this time next week you will be relaxing and it will all be over. Had to come off my tablets 48 hours before.
With regards to the Spire, I had my ablation done at the Spire in Leeds, they were wonderful as was the surgeon. Best thing I ever did after putting it off for 18 years!
My husband and daughter were sat round my bed when I came round in the ward I was taken to.
Nice you have got support. My lot booked into the Hilton to be near, my grandson thought it was a mini holiday lol. Regards Ursula x
Aww so glad you have appointment, that was quick, still waiting for my date. I can imagine what you are feeling I’m the same not looking forward to this but we will feel much better after. Good luck hope your recovery is fast 🤞
Hi Jelliebean, I had a Triple Bypass at the Southampton Spire last August - you are in for a treat!!
The after care is outstanding. You get your own room, and peace and quiet.
When I came round from the Op, no one was in the ICU - except the Nurses, because you are so out of it. In the Morning, you are woken quite early, and then you get taken back to your room just after Lunchtime. My family, didn't visit until the evening, but ask the question, when you go in on Thursday.
You have nothing to worry about - trust me I am now 9 months Post-Op, and I feel fantastic.
Coming off the Meds - Pre-Op is normal, and so are your feelings.
