Thanks for all the replies. Going to have a busy day going thru all the suggestions.
I think this also highlights the unfairness of insurance companies attitude towards people like myself. I regard myself as now low risk my heart is working better than it had for a long time. The medication I take are all preventative. But this is regarded as that I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I don’t and never have been treated for prior to my HA.
It is time something was done to regulate this and stop exploitation of healthy people

I paid for annual travel insurance for world wide cover for 37 years. After my heart attack the company will no longer cover me simply because "Unfortunately, once you've had a heart attack, your chance of having another one is higher". They are in the numbers business of calculating risk and they really don;t want to pay out if you make a claim. SO by having a heart attack it alters the risk for them and they tend to decline to accept the additional risk. It is unfair but that is how the insurance system works - and they will insure you if you pay the huge weighting they add to the premium - and no I can't get reasonably priced insurance at the moment. Good luck in finding adequate cover.
Sorry about your situation but I can’t agree. It depends on what treatment you have after your HA. If you have stent or bypass surgery and are on the correct medication the chances are less than most people who have not been checked for the risks of having a Ha.
I agree with what you say. I'm going to do a bit of Yes Minister here.
If you've never had a heart attack you're classed as a unknown unknown - no-one knows whether you'll have a heart attack or any subsequent one.
If you've had a heart attack you become a known unknown - they know you've had a heart attack but don't know if you'll have another one. Therefore as they know something they'll decline to insure you or charge you a fortune
