Travel Insurance whilst un-diagnosed

Hello, hoping someone may be able to help. I was in hospital with initially a suspected heart attack, had a racing heart and high troponin levels.

My echo and angiogram are all normal I am now just waiting for a cardiac MRI and a holter monitor, in the meantime I have been prescribed various drugs as a precaution.

The problem I am facing is getting insurance to travel abroad - has anyone managed to find a insurer who is cover with un-diagnosed conditions/awaiting results.

Many thanks

Unfortunately, my experience is that until you have a diagnosis, all insurers will exclude any cover for medical issues, even well controlled pre-existing ones, not just the things you’re having tests in relation to. In practice this means that you wouldn’t be covered for cancellation before the trip due to any medical reason, or any pay out if you were taken ill for any reason at all whilst abroad. So essentially, not covered at all beyond non-medical/health claims, lost luggage and passports. At which point, travelling becomes a huge risk even for generally quite well people.

Thank you - I’ve tried a few and it seems your experience is right. Appreciate your reply

Hi. I’m not sure about the undiagnosed bit but I know that Allclear will cover you if you are awaiting test results. They are expensive but they were the only ones I could find that offered cover when I was awaiting treatment and results. X

I am awaiting a heart MRI (long wait) I rang 14 insurance companies and none will insure me until I have had the MRI, it is reported on and the Cardiologist has given his diagnosis. Allclear laid it out for me why they would not insure me the others just refused insurance

I found the same with All Clear, they were very helpful. I feel it’s not going to be an option. Especially after you’ve tried so many companies. Thanks for the reply

Sorry nothing to say that’s useful except don’t be tempted to skip it. Im stuck in Greece at the moment and although my travel insurance are covering it all, it was totally unexpected and now I have unconfirmed diagnosis’s which is making it difficult to fly me home with.Best of luck 🤞

Oh and I did admit to my travel insurers that I was still under investigation for my pre-existing and they covered me. Try Travel Insurance 4 Medical

Thank you - I’ll try them, wishing you all the best and that you get home soon

Hello, Just wanted to wish you luck. I've been very disappointed by not being able to get travel insurance cover and gave up searching after speaking to all clear. They made it very clear that no one would insure without a diagnosis as they are unable to assess risk. It's is so disappointing.
