Timescale first procedure

Hi everybody,

My husband is having an aortic valve replacement but just having the usual tests prior to surgery. He has been put down as urgent.. we are so worried as the length of time from seeing the cardiologist to getting the procedure done seems such a lengthy process. I guess when you think it’s a heart problem that things would be quicker. We do appreciate that there are others that are in the same boat. Can anyone give the timescale from seeing the cardiologist having the procedure.

Thankyou.

Waiting lists vary from place to place as the baby boomers impact on the NHS. If you have a chat with your cardiologist's secretary she should be able to bring you up to date on your current position and give you some accurate information.

I was told by my Hospital they have an obligation to offer surgery within 12 weeks. Tho my situation wasn't classed as urgent.

I've not had it done yet. Will be in the next 7 weeks hopefully. I requested to delay it till after Christmas as wanted to be ok for my family to enjoy. Surgeon agreed ok to delay.
