Psychosomatic or does it really work?

Hey all,

I’ll admit I stopped consuming omega 3, 6, & 9 before June but I have recently gone back to some Omega 3 tablets. Healthy heart is noted on the bottle.

Does it work though?

I take omega 3 tablets for rheumatoid arthritis and more recently for heart. There is some evidence they help with arthritis but I've no idea if they work for the heart. They shouldn't do you any harm, aren't expensive and they might work, so I keep swallowing them with my morning cocktail of drugs 🙂

Likewise @GracieOS, I’ve added them to the tablet shelf here in the kitchen. Back up, therefore, into 5 tablets each morning!

If you follow the recommended BHF Mediterranean diet you should be eating oily fish a few times a week. These are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and should provide sufficient without further supplementation. Examples include mackerel, herring and salmon.

Benefits of Omega 3 include reduction in irritation and blood clot formation.

Coating in beer batter and deep frying in beef dripping would more than negate any health benefits! 😐

Yeah @MichaelJH, but fish tend to under too much pressure right now & then there’s the plastic problem. Personally I don’t have a palette for fish so I tend to not consider eating fish.

Sadly besides fish microplastics are found in bread, bottled water, meat dairy and vegetables:

There are a cast array of fish of different flavours and textures, and it can be worth trying different ones!

@MichaelJH presumes I haven’t experimented with the fish easily available here. It tastes of nothing for me & texture ain’t my thing either.

While vitamins ect have there uses an underestimated health support is our mental health, belief in Vit's and minerals for example will work better than negative thoughts, when you have a reasonable state of health which indicates a healthy diet for your age.

hi Ben. My cardiac nurse told us that omega 3 used to be given to all post HA patients in rehab. But after many trials the efficacy of O3 wasn’t proven to be of much benefit and so the nhs dropped it. I’d say it can’t hurt to add that if u feel better for it so keep going.

thanks Beema24 , I take an omega 3, 6, & 9 tablet daily since before 06/19. More or of habit now but someone did tell me it was good for me so I carry it on anyway.
