Hi, a little help is needed please. Not really into googling as 9/10 times you’re going to die of whatever it is you’ve googled! Went to drs about having ‘gas’ in my chest, only way to describe it, anyway had a 72 hr ECG done. Just got results which show my heart does an extra beat now and then. Should I be overly concerned? The GP is sending results to a cardiologist and that’s all I know ? Has anyone had this problem which I must add is not noticeable to me and has no connection to the gas like feeling in my chest.

NHS health A to Z and Patient.UK are both thoroughly reliable and useful websites if you are looking for information.
You should be reassured by what you find there
Thank you so much I’ll have a look
Thank you I will take a look. It’s beginning to look like it may be a symptom of a thyroid problem? Never ends !😏
Yes I read that thank goodness the worry is as to if it’s caused by thyroid? Oh well I guess I’ll find out. Thanks for responding 🤩
A friend suffers from ectopic beats but has minimised it by exclusion of the following from his diet: caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and spicy food. Otherwise his lifestyle was healthy previously. Minimising stress also helps but can be harder to achieve! Good luck!
Ectopic beats. I have them not that it has been confirmed by a cardiologist. Some days they are worse then others. I have felt my pulse and I can feel the extra beats which is like two in one. They do say that Magnesium helps a lot with this especially if they are the type which are strong and you can feel them. There are other threats about Ectopic beats on this forum which gives some advice about which magnesium is the best to take.
I agree with magnesium, although you have to be careful not to take too much. I can’t recall, but I think the symptoms of over dosing are very similar to under dosing. You can of course have a blood check for it.
Potassium is also very good
Occasional ectopics are incredibly common and nothing to worry about. I take bisoprolol which has really helped cut down the number and the ones that feel like a thump. Check out the York cardiology videos on YouTube - they are by a cardiologist and very informative.
I have them - cardiology team seem pretty unphased by them, and accept them as much as the colour of my hair or eyes.
I'm pleased to know they exist, it allows me to tell any future clinition that they are there and we all go about our business as though they weren't.
I had a replacement valve in September 2017 and since then I have what I call missing heartbeats, particularly when lying down. My doctors call them palpitations but they are quite forceful. They don't seem overly bothered by them. I think we all have these odd symptoms now and then and they mostly go unnoticed as in your case. Don't know about the "gas" sensation you mention, but hopefully the cardiologist will put your mind at rest.
Best wishes
Welcome to the world of ectopic beats ! I have had these for about five years now especially at night. My cardiologist says that they are delayed beats rather than extra ones, and come back in with a thump, giving the sensations of palpitations....apparently they are mostly harmless but just a nuisance to sort out. I take a beta blocker, statin and aspirin.......they are very common.....good luck.
Thank you, I have no sensation of them at all but what I do have and can find no one else who does, is the constant gas in my chest, pain here pain there, right side, left side, middle and it’s every day. I try so hard to ignore it but can’t, dr doesn’t seem bothered but I’m an anxious mess! 🥵
