Hi , iam new on here, but just wondering if anyone has had the problems I’ve had for more than 35 years..iam now 66, I’ve suffered with extra beat , which made my life hell when my children were young, had many panic attacks, and called for ambulances quiet a few times, the doctors and consultants always said after many many ECG’s , a reveille put in my chest for a year, they were not dangerous , but over the years they have turned into like a fluttering in my chest going up to my throat and into my head making feel like my hearts stopped and iam going to faint , I was put on Flexciade years ago, it helped a little, but then there was a scare it was giving you heart attacks so my doctor stopped it...Iam now today experiencing missed beat again, so went to doctors and my blood pressure in low normal 107/85 ...I wonder if my low pressure is bringing on the missed beats..
Last year I went back to Barts , as I had a terrible fluttering and the grey mist come over in my head while I was out shopping, I thought that was it! I don’t ever get any pain in my chest just a left dead arm sometimes...iam not a blood thinner, but I feel I should be...might ask my doctor to refer me again, as iam feeling very tired lately ..
Also about 12 years I was give an Ablation but they couldn’t make it come on the fluttering , so nothing was done...I’ve been more or less told , it’s not dangerous but iam still anxious when it happens 🙁
Is there anyone out there that can relate please

Hi, I can relate to what your going through as I suffer from similar things. Echo, ecg, blood tests, the lot. Gp has told me I have health anxiety. Some days I believe him, some days I don't. Its horrible and you really do have my sympathy. Best thing to do is try to challenge your thoughts with the evidence, works for me
Hi Nelson42 Iam sorry I thought I had reply to you , thank you for your message , it good to know it’s not just me..and yes your right, I have a lot of stress in my life and that certainly makes me anxious too,,,I try very hard to keep calm it hard though ..all the best to you
I can totally understand I’m only 30 but had them since my 20s but they are ruining my life they scare me everyday i get them bad I don’t even want to move now that’s how much they effect me
Hi Tabbyjune I feel for you too , this how I was years ago , funny enough I ended up in A&E yesterday as I’ve had the missed beats as I said for 4/5 full on day nights now, yesterday my left arm was aching and had pain in my left jaw and felt dizzy , paramedic came and took me hospital, had blood test and ecg ,the doctor said I wasn’t having heart attack and that he could see missed beats but I need to go to my GP Monday and get referred back to Barts to Cardiologist, as it my electrics , which I know....anyhow that is my next step again, just hope they don’t fob me off and say there not dangerous, I’ve really had enough like you ..I shall stand my ground this time mind you I bet I wait months for appointment 🙄 I think the more we panic to the worse they get , I do tell myself that ..good luck to you , it’s good to know we are not the only ones x
I saw one last year diagnosed me! With etopic beats i have recently had a 24 hour tape which the doctor arranged for me so waiting results I don’t know what’s happening to me I’m having them so bad tonight I don’t know where to turn I’m to scared to even sleep I ask my doctor to see him again but apprently they won’t see me as the wait is to long and they feel like ive already had a diagnosis even though I’m suffering so bad with them so upset
Thank-you for replying. It is expensive to go private - a complete health check in my area at the local private hospital clinic is an eye-watering £800 and doesn't include any treatment if something is found.
Hopefully it should be a reassurance to you they've not found anything urgent in your test results - if they had they would have telephoned you and had you in immediately.
That said, however, the wait is agonising, I know. Please update us when you do get the results.
Oh you poor thing , if it makes you feel better mine all started in my thirty after I had my third child, I thought I would never see her grow up , she’s 35 now and as I said iam going on 67, but it’s the worst feeling in the world no one giving you any answers, but the more you tune into them the worse they are, I know....having no sleep is the worst too, I had weeks at a time....get a personal question , are they worse when your on your period only that’s when mine come on ...I looked into if it was hormone thing too...no avail there though...my eldest son 45 has them now too....easy to say, but try to do breathing excises it helps me...and keep busy to take your mind off it..,,it making me laugh telling you this, as iam the biggest worrier...do feel for you darling ...x
Hello so glad I'm not alone...i am 24 and have been suffering with these for about 4 months now some nights I can't sleep because there so bad I don't want to go out alone either now because some episodes make me feel dizzy...im still waiting for my cardiologist appointment but it's taking ages...
I do believe stress and anxiety make it worse I used breathing techniques and removing myself from stressful situations also yoga is ment to be good...the less stress and anixous I am the less I get if I'm stressed I have about 3 together xx
Your are right Charl94 my friends keep telling me to do yoga ...not keen on it as I find it hard to switch off...but I do try to keep busy during day when I get them, but when your tried and go to bed , the last thing you want is modded beats ...I’ve had mine going for the last week bedtime out of the blue...drive me mad....as I’ve got older I more of a flutter , which feels like my heart shakes and stops for what feels like 1-2 mins prob not but I feel like iam going to faint , blood doesn’t reach my head it’s horrible and scares the life out of me...it’s so good to hear that iam not the only one,,,best of luck darling
After a bad weekend of them and another ambulance out , apparently they can be very dangerous to the point of going in to cardiac arrest if you have runs of them all in a row feeling so low scared still awaiting on results still can’t see a cardiologist on the nhs could cry to be honest
I can understand the feelings you get when this happens, after medical tests and examinations to be told it’s not dangerous just isn’t enough, I suffer the same sort of thing and every time it persists I see my future disappearing. For me it’s nearly always down to what I’ve eaten, and I have a few don’t touch items. I use mindful meditation to regain control of my thoughts and my reply to the medical person telling me it’s not dangerous is , if your car engine was running like this would your would you drive it anywhere with confidence? The is a cardio consult at York (I think) who puts stuff on the internet about all these conditions he explains in and easy to comprehend way what’s happening, very reassuring. All the best
