Has anyone any experience of having a tattoo while taking aspirin? It's been recommended that I stop taking it for 5 days prior to having it done but this seems a bit excessive to me.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Without any indication of your cardiac history it would be foolish to comment either way!

I would ask my GP as you have had two stents and other arteries may be compromised. Because of the half life of aspirin a missed day may be OK but check with your GP.

I have been taking aspirin since my first stent 25 years ago and in that time I have had 24 tattoos and not had one problem .

Cheers for your reply. Was it ever recommend that you stop taking it?

No , not that I recall. I would imagine that if I had bled excessively at any point I would have been concerned. I should mention that if I cut myself shaving, have a nose bleed or a cut of any kind I do bleed excessively but it has never happened with a tattoo . I always follow my tattooists advice about keeping it clean during healing and I find bepanthen is the best cream to use
