I have used it since developing heart disease and undergoing bypass surgery. You could check with a pharmacist if in doubt but unless you are allergic to any of the ingredients I cannot see an issue.

I gave only used it twice in the past fifteen months; once it was effective the second time (new tube) totally ineffective.

Probably but it's best to check the leaflet and with your medical team. I'm on Bisoprolol 1.25mg+300mg aspirin and am pretty sure I keep Voltarol in business - but once I went on the beta blocker I did make sure to check with the GP and cardiologist.

You are not supposed to use Voltarol when on aspirin, read the leaflet.

I will read it again - I've read it so many times I must have glanced over the part about aspirin.

ETA: I keep meticulous notes (word docs, spreadsheets, hard copies of all) so I went back and had a look - according to my notes, my doctor(s) said the dose of aspirin I'm on (300mg per day) isn't a problem. Also, I'm not a 'bleeder' - the aspirin I take doesn't cause me to have bleeding, bruising, lack of clotting, or the dreaded stomach lining corrosion. But thank-you for the reminder it is important to read the leaflet, take copious notes at consultations and keep those notes organised for quick retrieval and reference.

I find Voltrol really affective. I use it a lot to. Pretty expensive but when you need it you must have it on hand. I’m also on Bisoprolol 5mg along with several other meds.

I saw the price on Voltarol and chose the less expensive Deep Heat. Deep Heat may work for some but after giving it several tries I realised I should have gone for the Voltarol and have ever since. Great stuff, I can't manage my knees without it.

I live in Scotland where prescriptions are free but I buy my aspirin and the Voltarol, though as I feel doing so helps ease the burden on our NHS. I'm quite glad my beta blocker and GTN are free, grateful doesn't begin to describe how much I appreciate knowing my vital medications are free to me but aspirin is so inexpensive but would cost NHS Scotland more to provide free as part of a prescription; Voltarol is costly but like aspirin, would cost the NHS more to make part of my free 'scripts.

My HF nurse told me to avoid ibuprofen gels (like Voltarol), but heat rubs (like Deep Heat) are fine.

However, my rehab team recently told me that their hospital pharmacists have said that topical ibuprofen gels & creams are now considered OK to use occasionally. So I do :)

As usual, best to check with your pharmacist.

Voltarol actually contains diclofenac. Apologies for the geekeness.

Happy to be corrected! I know it was cited as a no no, along with Ibuleve, etc, by my HF nurse :)

I can't use Voltarol because it contains that.

I am on Amidarone as well and because of that it made me look as if I had had hot water thrown over me but I don't think the ones you mention have any effect on it

It's the Dichlophenic in Voltarol that is the no no. I used to be prescribed Dichlophenic by my GP for my chronic back problem but sadly no longer allowed it, pity as it was the one thing that really helped🤔
