Hello all,I am new to this but I need help from others that might be going through the same thing.
I was prescribed Ramipril 5mg.After a week or so I started getting an annoying cough.I put up with it for a few weeks ,then told my GP and she has changed my medication to Micardis.
I was wondering how long does it take for the cough to go away?.Is there something that soothes it?.
I thank you in advance for your replies and wish you the best.

I've been on Ramipril 10 mg for several months. Each time the dose was increased to reach the 10mg maximum, my night time tickly cough got a bit worse, but soon got tolerable again. I was advised to take it last thing instead of in the morning and now hardly get the tickle at all. But on the rare occasions I do feel it, a small sip of cold water seems to do the trick.
Hi, I had the same thing. I probably put up with the cough for far too long because I believed Ramipil to be the best drug. In the end my quality of life was so bad because of the cough I had to come off it. I couldn't sleep or talk without coughing. It took about 3 weeks for my cough to go, but as I said I probably stayed on Ramipil for way too long. The cough did go and I'm absolutely fine now, on an alternative drug with no cough.
